Aw shite. The Rant will be calling for Chief's head if this continues.

Over the last two seasons, I've watched a lot of game tape on SM99 and haven't seen this until last Saturday.

Montgomery having problems with read option

he's just confused and will learn...all of his reps against the read option came in practice over the past few years where the QB always kept the ball.

Wow! I didn't realize their are so many college coaches on the rant!!

Yeah because it's so bad to have an opinion and discuss LSU football on a LSU message board. Go post in the "do you think you know more then Miles" thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all these blown tackles in the second half? I'd like to think he was just gassed.

You could be right though, could've just been gassed

But shouldn't be.

Both halves are on YouTube.

I've got a life, been at work all day. Posted that during lunch.

Whatever it is, Chavis will fix it. Just didn't know if it was something UF was doing scheme-wise or Sam was tired.
If it was scheme, he misses his assignment because isn't he supposed to hold the edge and force the QB to keep it rather than hand it off toward him? If so, Driskel kept handing it off anyway toward Sam and UF kept getting around the corner.

Should be interesting Saturday. I think Chief and this Defense will take some of the post game comments personally and dominate the LoS in this one

If it was the sweep where the RB goes wide and the QB keeps it inside, the DE would have the QB. The DE has dive, the OLB has sweep on all reads (traditionally).

first and foremost, unless you know the play call and responsibilities for everyone on said play call, you're really in no position to make this assessment

I guess this makes sense. Its hard to describe. The left guard on Montgomery's side pulls to the right and the the left tackle in front of Sam crashes down on the DT, leaving Sam just standing there with no one blocking him. He doesn't crash in on the QB. He holds his ground on the edge, which is when I'd expect the QB to then keep it since Sam is unblocked, hasn't come inside, and is standing at the LoS.

BUT, Driskel takes look at Sam's side and hands it to RB/WR going right to left. Sam freezes and he gets beat around the edge. Just a weird play, but it was repetitive. Hope that makes more sense now. I was rushed at lunch and should've explained it better

Either way, as poster said earlier, this is something we know will be fixed because of the coaching and talent on that side of the ball. Ready for SM99 to have big game vs. his state school

Fair enough. Thread was meant to be more of a question than an answer for everything that happened on those few plays. Only brought it up because it happened more than once. Hoping someone else noticed it and would have more insight.

Link the YouTube video and give me a landmark time to find it and I will draw the play up and attempt to diagnose it for you. Honestly sounds like he was playing the qb on the inside dive the way you described it right then

Also, watching the video of the broadcast should not be called watching tape. Just say you rewatched the game. Game tape is something that has multiple camera angles for each play.
