Basically they were in a low percentage situation all the way around. At that point, you identify the player who you think you have the best chance to get out. If Fraley doesn't end the game, they walk Chinea to then load the bases and see what happens. They were basically dancing around land mines at that point and Fraley blew their leg off.

It's a valid question, but in the bot of an inning it leaves you with zero margin for error.

Walk scores a run. The plus side is you can prevent the run from scoring by a force instead of a tag.

There is more to it than that. If Chinea was at the plate and Zardon on deck, they would have walked to load the bases.

It had to do with the amount of outs AND lineup position
