Bronco Mendenhall, or a coordinator at the NFL level, dare I even mention Del Rio?

I almost hope he goes.
Besides, it's his dream and he's a good guy. He's done more good than not at LSU, but maybe it's time to move on. He deserves to coach in the Big House if they call him. Maybe he can rescue the Wolverine fortunes.

Fans need to be careful what they wish for.
Somebody like hudspeth from ull is probably what they would get.

Del Rio's stock has fallen...We need a highly motivated coach that will recruit like a mad man! Aka a Les miles type coach!

I hope he goes and lsu has 4 losing seasons in a row so the rant will shut their face about how bad he sucks.
They could still say he sucks. They would just say Alleva sucked worse for hiring someone that sucked even more.

well thought response- I would argue 90% of coaching hires across the NCAA are failures.

4 or 5 more reality checks on the way this year...at the least.

Harbaugh, Gruden, Jimbo are unrealistic.
Actually, during the last miles to meechigan fiasco, Gruden said on record that if he ever coached college football it would be at LSU. Take it FWIW, but it's not unrealistic

This awful fanbase needs a reality check.

Doubtful he ever leaves. Turned down the job twice and has two kids in high school and a daughter in middle school. Plus I doubt Michigan wants a 60 year old coach to turn around that mess.

It's obviously not easy to make a great hire. Miles has put up very good records consistently. To be honest, I've always thought Miles has had the right idea (in general) about being one of the best teams (have a tough running game and a stong D). Those type of teams usually win it or are in the mix. But he's too hardcore at times with the formula. When LSU has a lot of talent at other skill positions and has a better chance of passing successfully on certain teams rather than running it, then they should go that route. Also, LSU's playbook is terribly predictable at times. You can run it without being completely predictable.
As for people that think we couldn't get a name hire, that's not realistic. Any decent coach has self confidence (or even an ego) and they don't care about expectations or what happened with the last guy because they believe that they can beat everyone. Also, coaching in Tiger Stadium and having a talent-rich state to coach in is very enticing.

DIAF, people like you shouldn't watch football or be allowed to support LSU

Lane Kiffin but I think he is a fit for Florida and Booms arse is gone.

You don't believe he turned down the job in 07? And after the 2010 season?

Anyone hoping the very most successful coach in LSU history goes is suffering from college/SEC football mental retardation. Anyone wishing a HC search on LSU after seeing what has gone on at the likes of Michigan, ND, Tennessee, Fla., and so on needs to reevaluate their personal feeling for Miles vs. their feeling for LSU.

Hmmmmmmmmm....if you haven't noticed, its been "really bright" for LSU football a longgggggg time now, but if you think another coach or 2 can make it brighter than the 146-41 we have enjoyed since 2000....bring them on! Objectively, that's gonna be a tough hill for any 1 or 2 or 3 "new blood" staffs to climb, but I hope it will be as easy as you claim.

He was never offered the job and he never will be as long as Lloyd Carr has any influence at Michigan.
