Miles or Crowton- who is calling plays for LSU?

I don't think Crowton is being allowed to open up the offense to take advantage of LSU's talent at the skill positions. Where are reverses or end arounds to Trindon and Lafell? Where is throwing to Richard Dickson? Where are the swing passes to Keiland Williams out of the backfield? Where are fly patterns or deep posts to TT? Where is more play action to slow the pass rush of the opposing defense?

Has Crowton suddenly forgotten how to call plays this season or is Miles handcuffing him? With the audibles from the sideline, is Miles essentially calling the plays himself?

Would changing QB's change the play calling?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Well according to the fans, when a play works it is Crowton who called it. When a play fails it is Miles who called it.
The reality is that Crowton is probably calling the bulk of the plays. Look at his previous stops (Oregon, BYU, etc) and he started to flame out during his 3rd season. I doubt Miles does much with regards to the offense or defense. He is about as involved on gameday as Bobby Bowden.

Miles has only taken play calling away once from the OC, and that was Jimbo.

Les will make the adjustments for Auburn. He knows it. That was the worst offensive performance perhaps in LSU history, given our talent.

Intersting point. When Crowton left Oregon to come to LSU, Oregon's offense actually got better. Were there some issues with him at Oregon? Did he leave on his own or was he asked to leave?

I remember when we got Crowton. Oregon fans were thrilled to see him go. They came on here and warned us about him. Nobody listened. They said that by year 3 we would understand what they were talking about.

What is it about year 3 under Crowton? Does he become more conservative over time? Or is it a matter of him not making adjustments once defenses have figured out what he is doing?

changing qb's is not the answer, maybe change whoever is calling the plays, no matter who it is...If I can sit in my living room and can predict what the play is from the formation, what the hell do you think the other teams coach's are doing and they are far more professional than I am....WE ARE TOO PREDICTABLE...WE CANNOT MUSCLE EVERY TEAM ASIDE...

This is exactly the complaint that the Oregon fans had. They said that once the opposition got film on him and his offense, that it became less and less effective because he rarely made adjustments.

there are many rumors flying around that miles has overtaken most of the offensive play calling and is allowing crowton just to coach qbs

Yeah, I see your point. We only averaged over 30 points a game last year with a QB who couldn't stop throwing pick 6's.

Have you ever tried to cook? Well if you have all the ingrediants that you need except one of them is bad(like curdled milk). It really does not matter how you cook the dish, it still tastes like crap. Does that make you a bad cook?

I think we make have some curdled milk and no matter how great the other ingrediants are, it just does not come out very good.

Chicago Bear Fans, BYU (Fired Him), and Oregon were all glad to see him go. He got figured out everywhere -- including here. Miles knows this.

Then should we expect Crowton to be replaced after this season?

Wasn't that similar to what the Okie St fans were trying to tell us about Miles as well. But not to many people wanted to hear that.

I don't know the answer to that question. I am not sure Crowton is the problem, I started the thread to get feedback because I thought maybe Miles was limiting Crowton's play calling and that was causing the problems on offense.

I know a big part of the problem is that the offensive line has not been dominant. However, you can mix up the play calling to compensate for that and I have yet to see that occur.

The only way LSU had a prayer of winning last night against Florida as vanilla as our play calling was, was for Florida to commit turnovers and give LSU a short field to work with. LSU did nothing offensively to put any pressure on Florida's defense. The game plan appeared to be based upon a hope that Florida would beat itself, which, to me, seems pretty stupid.
