I forgot every team competes til the very end every single year.

So Bama must not be elite since they lost 3 games in 2010. Auburn must not be elite because of 2011 and 2012, as well as everything between 2004 and 2010.

Still though...the "next year" excuse is just a way of saying we fricked up this year...or at the very least underachieved.

We lost all our offense to the draft, is being realistic really making an excuse?
It's not like I'm saying the QB play and development has been satisfactory, and it's not like I'm saying I'm happy with losing 4 games this season.

This. This right here.
Why is it so hard for pumpers to understand? "Down years" shouldn't be some recurring thing with our level of recruiting unless there's an unexpected and significant departure (like Ryan Perriloux) or unless there's some problem with the player development (which is obviously our problem).
Draft-eligible players leavig early is not a fricking excuse. That's to be expected.
