If...

Miles liked a "mobile" QB then Shepherd would not be playing WR...

So much for that theory...

On the on the other hand...

All things being equal (meaning two QB's with basically the same passing skills) a mobile qb will give you more options...

he'll start but after his first interception, miles will yank him and play randall until he graduates.

(Flynn wasn't a mobile QB in my opinion)

I remember that Flynn would run the option plays when he was Russell's backup. Dude was a heck of an athelete...certainly mobile...good wheels.

He was also a heck of a passer. Which is what some will remember him for. Its fine by me.

I'll take it a step further...if Mett is not THE MAN at QB next year he is GONE. If he is forced to split significant time w Randall at QB he wont stick around for that shite. Neither would ANY QB with the talent that kid has. How Miles handles the QB position next season will be a tell tale sign to all incoming QBs and WRs. The NC just highlighted to the nation what we ALL have known for awhile now. If you think Keil switched just to stay close to home you are crazy.

I like QB's that can drop back, scan all available receivers in nanoseconds and deliver a strike (out-of-bounds if necessary), rending the need to be mobile unnecessary 29 out of 30 times.

E.G. Tommy Hodson, Rohan Davey, two of the best in LSU History.

I guarantee you most offensive coaches love qb's with a decent set of wheels to keep a play alive and run the inside/outside zones

You don't see many "mobile" qb's riding the bench. However, I don't think of JJ as a true mobile qb, because those guys can still make most throws. JJ was limited.

As a fan, you should know at least a little about the players on your favorite team.

So you assume Mett is the end all be all and the rest of our guys can't sniff his jock strap? I'll tell you right now that we have 3 qb's for next year that will be as good or better than Lee and JJ were this year.

For some reason, Miles thought Jefferson was good enough to gameplan around. I don't mind a mobile QB, but I don't think you should sacrifice a good passing attak for it. A solid passing game is more important than a mobile QB. Miles seemed content with sacrificing the passing game in order to start a QB who was a decent runner.

I could understand if he had Michael Vick or Vince Young speed, but Jefferson was good enough to escape pressure, which he wasn't very good at anyway.

dude, this isnt even up for debate...everyone on this board knows that Mett was an infinitely better QB than both Lee and JJ combined and still rode the pine this year. ZM did NOT come to LSU to ride the pine another year. I stand by my statement that if ZM is not the undisputable starting QB (barring an injury of course)with the lion's share of PT, then he is frickin GONE.

Jefferson wasn't a mobile QB. He came out of high school as a highly rated PRO STYLE QB, with mechanics issues and decent straight ahead speed. He never could grasp the option, and he had almost no shiftiness to his running style. He was misused due to how fast he could run in a straight line.

And if it turns out that JR or SR are as good are you gonna lose your mind and claim preferential treatment because the chosen one is sitting on the bench? I realize Mett is the assumed starter and is expected to be our phoenix (I really hope he is) but what if (heaven forbid) there is a better alternative?

you are not comprehending what I'm saying man...there WAS a better alternative THIS year sitting on the bench (Mett) compared to both JJ and JL...and yet he sat for a year. Les Miles doesnt play the best possible option for "the team"...he does whatever the frick HE wants to do, as is his right as HC. that stubborn pig headedness got LSU's arse handed to them on National TV on Jan 9th. If Miles continues his love affair with a QB who runs a lot and Mett has to split significant time, he is GONE... As well as any future pro style QBs who even dream about coming here in the future...you can lump WRs in this statement as well. 2012 is gonna be the tell tale year of where this program is gonna go in the future

and Mett was better than BOTH...yet he sat

im not talking about Lee vs JJ...I'm talking about Mett leaving if Miles prefers to keep running the same ole shite with Randall taking the reins as is primary guy due to his running ability.

YES. Rohan Davey...one of my favorites.

Dude would throw the ball; a duck that was going seemingly to no one; and Josh Reed would come out of no where to make the grab.

Good times...

I don't think that running ability is the only aspect Miles considers when choosing a starting QB. If that were the case, one of our RB's would have started this season.
