Frankly, I am not that upset about the last few seconds of the game, because LSU was lucky to have even been in that position. The game was lost in the 3rd quarter, where LSU has been horrible this year. The problem with this team is not the last few seconds, it is the offensive coaching. Losing Fisher and Pelini is the difference in this team. It is the identical situation that Southern Cal is in. The Pelini problem has been rectified. If LSU can get a very good OC, I believe they will be very good again. We will have to wait and see if that happens. If not, Miles will need to go. Scrapping for .500 in the SEC is not going to cut it.

Last year I stated that Miles had to win a BCS Bowl this year to keep his job. I have changed my mind on that, however, I think we can all agree that next year if Miles does not win a major BCS Bowl, he's gone.

So it's the OC's job to dicipline the team, have them prepared for each down, and use the right players on the field? While I do think Crowton has lost his swagger, there is no one to blame but Les for the lack of leadership, preperation, and dicipline on the team. We suck!

Miles is an idiot. Now with this film showing him running down the sideline at the end of the game giving the spike the ball signal and him saying after the game he did not call for the spike, he is a lier.

The players know it and we all know it. They will not play for a lier.

This was an incredibly dumb statement FWIW.

But I 100% agree with this.

Sigh. I think you pretty much summed it up.

Next season will be important for Miles. I think if Crowton goes, Miles has a chance to get back to being the CEO-great recruiter head coach that he does so well at; but frick-ups like Saturday are inexcusable.

He is NOT getting paid 4 mill to go 4-4 in the SEC every year.

Does he need to win a BCS bowl next year? Well ... I'll say he DEFINITELY needs to get to one.

There are probably a dozen coaches out there who could have won the west with our current players.

And I am not including 8 or 9 from the SEC.

I say we give this staff 1 more year and if we lose to more SEC teams than we beat, this staff has to go.

I am ok with 2 or 3 losses per year, but 4 or 5 is unacceptable for the money we are paying these guys.

The thing that really irks me is the mismanagement and the low level of play the coaches get out of these guys. I thought the D even layed down some in this game.

Well, we get next season to test your theory, because it's virtually 100% certain Miles will be our HC through 2010. For better or worse, Miles needs to hire an OC who meets the fans' approval as well as his, basically because he has 0 fan goodwill at this point. My top three: Frank Cignetti, Andy Ludwig, Kevin Wilson. All very, very difficult to obtain, but Les has to try for this caliber of OC if he wants to save himself.

True.

I do think Crowton is a big part of our problem, but even if not, a sacrificial lamb is needed and it's Crowton.

Les needs to realize this is a serious situation for his future at LSU and the first step to righting the ship is hiring a BIG TIME OC.

Miles has definitely cashed in all his national championship chips after this season. I think another yr like this one and he is gone.

In the interest of the progam, LSU should just cut bait now.
This won't get better it will get worst.

This isn't about this game. This is a team that is spiralling downwards. Look at last year. 5 losses for LSU, along with some of the games we won against lesser teams. Then again this year, with the way this team has played.
Poorly coached team with talent.
Even the year we won the NC. We lost to 2 far less talented teams because we were outcoached.

I know it won't happen, but Miles should be fired. By all indications he's a good man. Problem is he just isn't a good coach.

No question that there's a lack of leadership from Miles, which is why he's got to do two things: Find a new OC and quit delegating every facet of the game to his assistants. That's why he does't know what the hell is going on most of the time.
