Miles remembers filling his car up with gas on the Sunday night before Katrina and something striking him.

“I didn’t know why, but everyone said, ‘You need to stop and get gas.’ So I stopped and got gas,” he said. “The gas station was never open this late — after 10 p.m. I went by it 100 times. So I stopped in. The guy taking care of the cash register said this, ‘I’m just going to pump this gas until there’s nobody in line, and then I’m going to go home at 2 or 3 in the morning.’ I really kind of felt that he was a guy that was doing his part, and I felt like that there was a number of people like that.”

Few if anybody in college football could have handled the situation facing the program as effectively as Coach Miles. I have always respected him for that.

Do you have a link to that? I'd like to read more. Les is just a great guy who notices and appreciates others around him.
