The entire argument or arguments hinges on the idea that we haven’t had any talent at all. The standards of talent evaluations that every other program adheres to has been dismissed here for McMahon’s sake although no alternative standard has been offered.

Has anyone ever considered that McMahon just can't evaluate talent? You have to get instant impact guys out of the portal to compete. I don't see how anyone can look at this team and think anyone other than Carter and Chest, and maybe Collins, are SEC caliber players. Vyc Miller could maybe give some spot minutes off the bench on a good team. Other than that, we don't have the horses.

And before I get lambasted for making excuses for McMahon, it is his responsibility to bring in competent players, which he basically hasn't done in 3 years sans KJ Williams, Cam Carter, and Jordan Wright.

I don't think he considers himself a "journalist" as much of an opinion maker. However, his takes on basketball have always been bad. It mostly comes from the fact that LSU basketball has been largely ignored by most LSU fans/media for decades relative to football and baseball. For good reason. LSU basketball hasn't been the consistent winner those two programs have been. If you are a media member trying to get attention to sustain your livelihood it doesn't behoove you to talk extensively about sports no one wants to discuss. That lack of attention also brings with a lack of knowledge.

All this is 100% true and accurate IMHO Alt. It was almost as if he was forced to comment on it because of the situation at least that's my perception from the way he framed it.

And I further agree he really does not GAF about basketball and any time he gives it - again, even when things are going relatively well, like under WW - seems to be forced and superfical.....and uninformed.

His take yesterday IMHO was no different and reflected all this.

The same donors that funded Wade's player purchases are still there. McMahon just isn't raising the money.

This was my main point in referencing Mascona's take in the first place.

If you think raising NIL funds is the main problem, and that was absolutely Mascona's take - CMM can well look in the mirror about that.

Depends on to what degree you mean. Do we have the horses to win the SEC or contend, no. Do we have the horses to finish in the top 12-8, absolutely.
