I don't think the UNC game is as key as people think.
IF LSU loses this game, Tiger Nation will go neutron bomb ballistic. Miles will be dragged in front of college football nation as a prime example of devolution, and it will take an 11-game winning streak to scour the bitter taste from the mouths of Tiger fans. I like Les, so I'm not writing this with gleeful anticipation ... but I really do believe this is a huge game for the Miles regime, and for the overall perception of our program—especially as its the first game after our loss to PSU in the CrapOne Bowl.

Same here brotha.
I can't explain it, but I am sick and tired of being sick and tired about it. Screw it. If they don't live up to expectations, so be it. It's not like it would shock me. But I am sick of not being able to enjoy LSU football because of how jacked up I get about the situation with Miles.

Well stated, I agree with you completely.

Last Monday morning I was with one of our offensive player's brother. We talked for a good while.
The attitude around the program is reported to be much changed from last year. More guys on the iron on off days, more 7 vs 7 drills, just more 'want', pardon me for that one.
The only negative I heard was that there seems to be a split between players as to who they want to be the starting QB. The O skill guys want Garrett.

If we see the following, there really is no limit to what this team can accomplish IMO:
(1) Improved O-line play,
(2) Improved QB play,
(3) Maintain to slightly improve defensive play...mainly d-line play
(4) Be more disciplined (having Alem gone will automatically make this team more disciplined).
Even though I am not a Miles fan, I think the four aforementioned items are certainly attainable. I feel that the QB improvement, however slight, and d-line improvements are almost a certainty.
Also, more food for thought, we play the best team in the nation at home this year. I think we can beat Bama with a few breaks. We shoulda, coulda, woulda beat them the last two years.

Hold on, could be a big mistake.

I don't deny that either. There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about this season, I have written about many of those reasons on this board, but I have had a gut-feeling/change of heart with reference to this season.
Odd thing is, I still don't trust Miles and think he is a mediocre coach.
I think we have too much talent and talent with leadership ability to be too bad though. I look for RS to have a big impact this year if he stays healthy. He seems to be a natural leader. PP is a natural leader on defense. I think, given the opportunity, RR could be the best receiver in the SEC. Michael Ford could easily have a breakout season and be a force.
For the first time in a long time I can envision College Gameday talk about the resurgence of LSU football and/or LSU football being written off too early.
I even think we might embarrass one or two of the teams that are currently favored to beat us right now.

Ii think next season will be more important than this season in terms of miles keeping his job.

We could be improved as far as play but have a similar record as last year. I think this year is going to be a grind as far as the schedule.

If that is the case, there should not be an LSU fan that is not satisfied. My problem has been how ill prepared the team and the coaching staff has looked on both sides of the ball the last two plus years.
If LSU is able to compete and improve during the season, I will be more than satisfied.

Just hope our offense improves. They were just terrible

Win it, and we're still likely looking at 7-5. Lose it, and 5-7 is very possible.
5-7?
so you figure we'll lose to:
Florida
Bama
Auburn
Arky
West Va
and someone else?
nothing like a healthy dose of pessimism I guess
If we lose to UNC and all those teams you listed, then Ole Miss, Tennessee and even Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are capable of beating us. Under those circumstances, one of them very possibly could. I don't think it's the most likely result, but it is, as I said, "very possible".

That game is very key, IMO. We win it going away and it sets up the rest of the season.
I agree and it is possible.
