I'm sure he added BS on top of it but if he were just transferring to get away from Trent they'd simply do just that. They wouldn't put anything out there that makes their son look less attractive to other schools, which his dad saying stuff about him being academically unprepared does.

good for him. Hope he does well and succeeds there. Hopefully Trent can find SOMEONE to fill his scholly slot...

it was time for brady to go but these last 2 years have made the hiring of trent look like the wrong move.

to support Elleshoe, Matt had no fricking interest in acadmeics. As stated earlier the got in a fight broke his jaw and the coaches covered for him, the kid went out got drunk all the time. He is literally not a team player. It is better he is gone.

I have no clue about his academic standing, I was just saying he was out ALL THE TIME

Lighter always has good knowledge about New Orleans area players. He was spot on with Ronnie Vinson and the timing of at least one another guy on the recruiting board, and this story seems mostly cohesive with the available info out there.
Sometimes, kids don't adjust well to being away from their parents/authority figures. It happens all the time for non-student athletes, and while Derenbecker is obviously a smart guy based on his high school GPA and standardized testing, it seems like he fell into the trap that a lot of first year students also veer into.
Oh well. Seems like it will be better for the program if he isn't on the roster next year.
ETA: Did he play with a broken jaw? Doesn't seem likely.

Sounds like LSU was just too big coming from Country Day. Poor grades and going out every night.

Honestly, he'll prob do better at Tulane. He was a good spot up guy but he couldn't take anyone off the dribble and he was a bit slow defensively for SEC ball. Sure he would have contributed but his starting days were probably close to numbered. Hope he does well where ever he lands.

quote:I may be wrong, I haven't heard about him much since the season ended, but I've played in the district they played in, it's a lot of homegrown slow country white boys, and yes, he looked decently impressive against them, it's still small town 2A basketball. Not to say he won't be an asset to the team, just don't think he's what he's hyped up to be. I hope I'm wrong though.
And everything I've heard about Isaac is completely opposite to what elite has said. I've heard he's playing extremely well in their pick up games and he's pushing to start.

Man..just got to put yourself in his shoes..turns down the likes of Stanford and Georgetown, to enter the shitshow that is LSU basketball.
Trent's a great recruiter/salesman. Just a terrible coach.
It was just a miserable setting for him Day 1 on campus

How did he end up going to PHS?

Personally if I were him, I would have went to Clemson, his style of play was much better suited to ACC basketball.

ughh, i think you have this completely backwards. Terrible recruiter and pretty decent X's and O's guy (if he has some talent)

be real. He didn't have offers from those places. His offers were Ole Miss, Okie State, and LSU. Maybe some smaller places. I'd love to be proven wrong. He may have had interest from those but not offers...
