Yes, and Flynn looked like a downright idiot in the 2nd quarter against Alabama.

and flynn had a LOT more talent than hatch does

We have not even seen Hatch take snaps in 2 full games

but we have seen him play extensively in 2 games and we know what talent he DOES have

randall in 2004 (after playing all the hard teams):

63% completion rate, 7.83 ypa, and a 3:2 TD-INT ratio

He completed 47% of his passes in the first 3 games, with only 1 TD and 1 INT (16/34). He got better as the season went on.

Tought to judge a season from just a few games.

Who knows, might happen again this year. Crazy thought, I know.

SFP's notion of talent is an abstract, almost magical quality-- and it is irrelevant to the question here which is about game performance over time as a quarterback. The question is about judging actual performances, not abstract talent. (Take Keiland's supposed 'talent' or Hester purported lack thereof and ask who performed best? What does talent matter here, really? It is irrelevant except when SFP wants to complain about KW not getting touches.) It may be true that Flynnn has more of this talent stuff. He was still an idiot in several instances last year. (Though a very capable quarterback). All I am saying is that fairness requires us to judge Hatch based on a body of actual performance--preferably at the end of the year.

But only measured by ACTUAL performance in games...over an entire season that gives enough data to make an informed judgement. Even high school recruits with physical skills are judged by potential to <perform>. The question here is judging game-time achievement, not talent.

And as a PS: physical ability and talent are not equivalent/identical concepts. One can have one without the possessing the other.

There was no one in the area. I believe there were still some Olinemen in front of Hatch, so the only thing I can say in his defense is that he couldn't see the defender.

I think we'll see a lot of bubble screens, short slants, and Richard Dickson in the Auburn game to take some pressure off of him. Also, they need to decide now who they're going with. I still think Lee is the answer, but Miles obviously feels differently.

But Hatch has a much better team around him, especially on offense, AND an offensive coordinator whose offense makes the game easier for shitty QBs. Like I said, if they can complete 60% or so of their passes and break even with TDs/INTs, they should beat Auburn. AU looks like they barely have a fricking pulse.

as of now, randall > hatch

and JR was farther along in his redshirt freshman season than Lee appears to be. I'd say Randall/Russell '04 >>> Hatch/Lee '08.

I agree, but the point is that this team is a better overall team with better coaches, facing a worse Auburn team. If we beat Auburn, is a two loss season out of the question? IF we beat Auburn, that means all we need to do is survive UGA/UF/USC/Bama. We should be able to split those games at least.

Randall is better than Hatch or Lee and it's not even close.

I love the frick out of our team, in all aspects, but I think we seriously lack at QB.

It's just scary to have to put pressure on all of our skill players to have to break long plays close to the line of scrimmage...sure it will work against N. Texas and APP St, but those big plays are going to be hard to come by against SEC defenses

Im glad we have a good run D to rely on and a strong running game, but at some point we are going to have to pass to win the game.

I dont know if they are keeping the playbook simple or they just dont believe in these guys, but soemthing has to change for us to have a successful passing game

Does the junior college you were allegedly attending back in the spring have a football team?

and I certainly agree with that

not even. In fact, I think the rest of our team is so good we'll probably go 10-2 or 9-3 at worst. However, with a good QB this team could have been an all-time great. And that's a little bit disappointing.
