Maggie Mac Neil Has Produced Her Own Grand Slam In the 100 Butterfly.
For several years, Canadian Maggie Mac Neil has established herself as a star in the sport – particularly through her performances in the 100-meter butterfly. And with one of her most recent international triumphs over the weekend, Mac Neil has expanded her golden touch on the global scene.
With a victory in the 100 fly at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, Mac Neil now owns titles in the event at the following competitions. Consider the collective achievements her version of a Grand Slam.
Olympic Games
World Championships
World Short Course Championships
Commonwealth Games
Pan American Games
NCAA Championships
While not all athletes have the opportunity to compete in every meet Mac Neil has raced, one thing is inarguable: The former Michigan and LSU standout has taken full advantage of her international chances. And along the way, the Canadian has defeated some of the best athletes in the sport, including the likes of Sarah Sjostrom, Emma McKeon, Zhang Yufei and Torri Huske.
The only major competition in which Mac Neil has not mined gold is the Pan Pacific Championships, which were last held in 2018 – one year before Mac Neil broke out at the 2019 World Champs. However, Mac Neil does own gold in the 100 butterfly from the 2018 Junior Pan Pacs.
Mac Neil is less than a year away from defending her Olympic crown in the 100 fly at the 2024 Games in Paris.

That is more awards than I can recall any LSU swimmer ever winning?
Is she still training at LSU?

I have no clue. My son, who lives in Canada, sent me the newspaper article and I copied and pasted it here.
