Ok how's this:
1. How can anyone honestly say Les Miles kept RP on the team too long? Any head coach has a responsibility for these kids that goes beyond the football field. A promise made in front of parents on couches while on recruiting trips. They are not just being taught the game of football, they are being taught to be grown men and responsible adults. You think its easy for a head coach to just dismiss a player?
2. Do you think Miles based his decision on whether to dismiss RP on the thought that "shite we might suck in 08 and 09, and the JUCO QB I haven't even recruited or signed yet won't be ready in '11 or until the middle of '12."?
3.You make no mention of the real "Mettsiah" Zach Lee, leaving for MLB in 2010. This may have set the program back more than the JJ/JL mess.
4. Mett has shown early this season that he wouldn't have been the answer last year. Saying "playing two seniors" instead of Mett is just being coy.
5. We don't even make it to the NCG last year if Miles doesn't yank Lee from the Bama game.
That enought for ya?

uh, everyone in the world knew Miles was getting played in that situation

Malveto was the bridge to Chavis, it's clear Miles had no great options to take at the time.

Do all #1 QBs play us then?

Starting to look like it
Lee was "on campus" but still negotiating with the Dodgers. What does that tell you?
Gunner was packed and ready, but never got on the plane. Cost us an early enrollee. Suddenly he doesnt have the chest
Miles couldn't wait to get JJ back to starting, for what? The two worst offensive outings of the year.
Miles cant see the forest for the trees when it comes to QB evaluations

I do not disagree that the RP fiasco has had negative effects on LSU to this day, something that the coaching staff has not really remedied. No one can explain why ZM got next to no playing time last year while the LSU offense was rolling. Now that is a subject I would like to see discussed at great length/
Fire away.
Fire away.

We get it, you don't like MIles or LSU...Please go cheer for another team. You are not wanted here. How many threads can you start in one week about how much you hate this team?

Metts lack of playing time in 2011 baffles me.

It shouldn't, it's been fairly well reported that he came in with a bit of an attitude, had grade issues and a poor work ethic

All of this (with number 3 maybe being a bit less relevant than the rest - though it was definitely far from universally assumed that he was going pro, and anyone who says so is either lying or clearly wasn't paying attention). It's amazing how easily history gets distorted when predisposition against specific individuals is involved. Les had made plenty of mistakes and every college football watcher, casual and dedicated alike, know this. However, it's ridiculous how desperately some of you search to find any and every flaw , especially those that doesn't even exist.

All true. But I'd like to add that we also have a record of underdeveloping and poorly utilizing QBs. Before all is said and done, Lee, JJ, and Mett will all have finished with below average stats, though all three came in as 4-stars. Three can't be a coincidence.

shortcomings.....you act like were ole miss, Tennessee or Kentucky... look bama is on top of this league and it frustrates the hell out of me but we have a great program that can compete with them.we haven't had a losing season in quite a while and you act like we are auburn.....gtfo with that shortcomings bullshite...i will take another 8 years like the 8 we just had with no problem.

Meanwhile sane fans should enjoy the "shortcomings" of the best period of LSU football ever thanks to CLM and Staff.

wow, what a distorted view of the past. try again and make it another way. you seem to be trapped in negativity for five looooong years.
please rewrite history again,
maybe like this:
SHORTCOMINGS??? Lets see, it's all because LM didn't kick RP off the team earlier??? So instead of trying to get him to mature he should if just tossed him. I think he kicked him off when RP finally proved he wasn't mature enough to handle the position. Exactly when should he have kicked RP off the team--the season prior? A month prior?
Granted the no exp at QB caused problems, bu we also installed a new offense in '08. Crowton ran Jimbo's offense in '07. Plus Pelini left that year as well so in essence we had a new offensive scheme and had Les not opted for the co-DCs in '08 we would have been imementing a new O and D in 08. The co-DC decision was actually the least disruptive option, but there was a talent drop on D in '08. Had Les not pulled the co-DC there would be no Chief on the sideline today. Ever thing Les did what he did because the right DC wasn't out there at the time. He talks stupid---He isn't stupid.
2009 O sucked. Crowton was always overrated IMO and his O was too complicated for the QB he had.
Anyway, back to the "SHORTCOMINGS" we have gone 23-3 over the past 2 seasons. We have lost #2 in the NCG, we lost (but dominated) #1 this year and we lost to current #4 when we had an inexperienced QB and a bangs up O-line.
I get it..BAMA is the yardstick becuz they have the crystal, but don't be silly. Winning consistently is hard, and regardless of 'how'.....LSU has won quite a lot over the past 8 years and the team remains in good hands.

may i offer an alternative? unknownknight can only see life w/ a negative slant. i could see him using a negative slant, but i choose to have compassion for someone who is so obviously hurting in a mental hell of self hate. the knight can only be negative b/c this is the way he was nurtured. yes, he is mentally ill, and just as if he had diabetes, i won't attack him. i will try to help him by pointing out his weakness and the fear that he live in, and have compassion b/c of his unhappy state.
so, everyone wins. he gets to be negative, we get to be positive (even about his negativity.)

He won almost 80% of the games he started. That makes him more successful than Saban if I use some of the logic used on the Rant.
