Watch the replay. LSU took over with 84 seconds. First down run the ball and Ark took TO with 80 left. Second down, snap the ball and take knee with 79 left. 40 second clock starts at 75. (That 4 seconds.) Third down, take second knee with 38 seconds left. game over.

If we take a knee on first down. TO gets called with 83 seconds. Second down, another knee and 40 second clock starts at 39. Third knee and game over.

So basically it all depends on when the 40 second clock is started. If clock official starts clock as soon as the knee touches the ground, then you have to possibly punt.

And you take all that guess work out of it by running a play that will easily eat up 4 seconds on the very first play before they call the time out.

The thought that one person, let alone several, are stupid enough to think you cant run out 4 seconds with 3 kneel downs (let alone 4) is mindboggling.

Then you fumble the handoff on that play that easily eats up 4 seconds, have it scooped up, ran back and donate a win to the hogs.

There is a good reason that ever since the "miracle at the meadowlands" coaches go into victory formation asap. You are foolish to take any unnecessary risk when you have a game sewn up. I implore you to watch the last LSU posession if you have it dvred, get out your calculator, and figure out that all we had to do was kneel on the ball to end the game. This isn't chinese arithmetic.

Poor coaching/awareness. Also, on the 2nd down play, Finley stood there to run off more time, but mathematically that was unnecessary. That should have been the plan on 1st down.

Talk about poor awareness, the clock doesn’t run on first down after a possession change.

Easy money was referring to the time AFTER 1st down (when arky used their last timeout.) And believe it or not, back in the 2006 season the game clock was wound by the ref BEFORE the first play after a posession change. Luckily, they scrapped that bs rule after one year.
