The students are the patrons/guests...being provided a service by the U.
If you throw a party at your house and I bring along my dog and he then proceeds to shite on your carpet...im fairly certain youre not going to evaluate this situation and say "well it's his house too."

Students dont pay the Athletic Department. How do you not understand this?

Opinions are one thing. Opinions about someone else's display of morality to which you choose to object are one thing. That's all fine.
That goes against your entire argument with all of us who disagree with the chant. You do not respect our opinions, which is all that we are stating here. Your argument is with the "big, bad university" but you are taking it out on us because your opinion means nothing to them and you know it.
quote:
What isn't fine is when people with one moral standard police the language of those with another. It is more morally deficient than anything to which they claim to object, and it is inherently hypocritical.
Again, how am I or any of the others here who voice their opinions policing anything? I do not have any authority to make any decisions at any event at LSU.
quote:
Add to that the fact that it won't work and will be a waste of money, and the opinions supporting such actions are just plain stupid.
Only your opinion, nothing more.

I see Strawmancaster is at it again. This is not a free speech issue. LSU is not saying you can't be an imbecile and yell "STTDB" to your hearts content. What they are trying to say is "While attending a university function that is a privilege and not an inherent right, this is the behavior we expect."
As for the endless "Mount Piety" comments that graced the earlier pages of this thread, he's right. Anyone that is offended by the chant in the presence of children is a reactionary Philistine and just doesn't understand the profound commentary on repressed cultural values and censorship that is encapsulated in those five succinct words shouting "Freedom!" from the student section.

But the students are the house.
I would say that out of all of your points, this is the one that I disagree with the most. You think that the attendees are the authority and I think that the people who put on the events are the authority.

But what if the cat came with $1M and gave the condition that you don't let the dog crap in the house?

quote:Surprise. You're wrong again. An opinion that the students shouldn't chant that is entirely reasonable, and I've never argued otherwise.
That goes against your entire argument with all of us who disagree with the chant.

You do not respect our opinions
You don't like the chant? Great. I don't either, and I've never chanted it myself.
You want to police the chant? frick you and your worthless opinion.
You have to see the difference there. It's amazing that you still apparently don't.

quote:That's where the metaphor goes beyond a reasonable comparison since there are 10,000 "dogs" in this house, and none of them are actually taking a dump on an actual carpet. If a cat came with $1M and gave the condition that I don't let the 10,000 dogs in my house bark because cats don't like it when dogs bark, I just don't have the resources to promise that, so there's no reason for me to reason with the cat here. Even that millionaire cat will have to put up with dogs barking once in a while.

Those 5 words in no way, shape, or form, equate to the idea of freedom...or anything even remotely resembling the idea...go to your board GUMP!

You are wrong.... There is no reason for me to explain why, because you are just so wrong.
Deal with it you are wrong.
Deal with it you are wrong.

And that's why nobody should be making a big issue over the chant. Making it a big issue has only resulted in its becoming increasingly loud and popular. If you want it to go away, let it go, and eventually it will. If you want it to stay and stay loud, keep wagging your finger at it and preaching.

Guys, you will not win against balls. The fact that this thread is 43 pages of him refusing to stop his retardedness doesn't prove that, nothing will. He does this shite in every debate he engages in on this entire website be it here, the MSB, or the Poli board.
If the board wants sunshine, he wants rain. YOU GUYS WILL ALWAYS BE WRONG, AND BALLS WILL ALWAYS BE RIGHT, AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.
