of course not.... theyre being silly...but in a way that is offensive to others..why cant u see that? I know its "Not my business" but does that make it any less offensive?

To whom did you intend to address this comment?

And you're knocking other people's lack of reading comprehension? It is obvious who that's aimed at, even though he replied to you.

If they don't play it for 4 years, just about everyone currently in the student section will have moved on. They won't be there. Everyone in there 4 years from now ill have never once participated in or heard the chant. How do you not get that?
Ok, lets try this again for the slower children. If they stop the song now, kids will likely keep chanting it for the next two years (I will even give you that instead of the 2-3 that I believe it to be), like they did when it was last stopped (history on my side). That means that for those two years, kids will keep chanting it, including kids who have just started attending the university and sitting in the student section. In two more years, when the band plays it next, they will not have moved on yet and will begin chanting it again. Does the math finally work for you? If you had argued for 4 years after the chants stopped, you would have a better chance of someone agreeing with this though process however current process that you persist with just doesn't work (i.e. is ignorant).

I'm not trying to manufacture any connection to what the chant is professing. It's already there.
You can't admit the obvious truth that the students are in no way encouraging bestiality. You are being dishonest, and that is very childish. It's also why you look like an idiot for judging others in this thread. You're an obvious liar, but you're pointing your finger at others for what you pretend is a lack of morality on their part. No one in this thread has displayed a lower moral standard in this thread than you have.

Tiger Rag was banned for more than 4 years since I was a student because the Powers That Be did not like the "a-hole a-hole" chant.
When it was brought back the chant resumed.
Banning the songs for 4 years isn't a solution as the students have already added STTDB to other songs and will add it to whatever song they can make it fit in.

Then scrap the fricking song. Bam, problem solved.
When they banned OWEO, students still did it without the music for a few games... and then it went away. The same thing will happen with STTDB. But you know what will keep it fresh in everyone's mind? Trying to clean it up and keep it around.

e fact of the matter is that it isn't an intrusion of free speech, no one is saying its "ILLEGAL" or "CRIMINAL" to chant these things, just that they don't want it in the stadium.
I'm not necessarily saying the students are in the wrong, but Students, here in lies your problem....
You're getting highly discounted tickets by the university when the rest of the crowd has to pay full price for these seats.
You are indebtted to the university for their act of discount towards you, their only stipulation is abide by their rules.
If you were paying full price for those tickets, I'd think you'd have more of a gripe, however, you dont.......

Why are you so insistent on controlling the language of the student section while at the same time not calling for control of the language by foul mouth Miles, who is an employee of the university. The students are the customers paying to go to the school. It's also rather peculiar that the university is going to take away tickets from the students they see on their "Big Brother cameras" for their speech but the players on the team they cheer for are given many chances and some are allowed into the university even though they have a history of some bad behavior.
Hold those players on the field to the same standards and half the team will be off the field from the cussing that they are throwing at the other players in the controlled, very violent game of football.
If you want student behavior controlled, then you better expect all illegal, unlawful things done by those on the team should be met with the same power. Don't exempt them. If you wish to exempt them, then remove the team from the university and get rid of the "student-athlete" concept and have a pro-team. Hell, unlike the pro-team in New Orleans, the pro-team in Baton Rouge is self-sustaining and is not relying on taxes to support the non-profit Saints that have players and coaches making millions.

Ban it longer. It not a tradition. Anything else isn't stopping it.

ETA: What you said probably shouldn't have been directed to LNCHBOX. His stance generally aligns with what you've said here.

And what you said also. I have never had a problem with dropping it from the list entirely. That wasn't brought up as a topic in this debate.

It should be (and has been plenty, although I'm just used to you skipping over stuff entirely), since anything else is a waste of time.

I think you're ignoring a few thousand bucks each student pays to be a student in the first place.
Most of that "few thousand bucks" is paying for education, not entertainment. The football ticket fee is $84/year and just a small percentage of fees paid. Students pay $12 per game and season ticket holders pay $40-70 depending on opponent. They also get into basketball and baseball games for FREE (as well as minor sporting events.)
Student tickets are subsidized by LSU. See the thread on free tickets to Outback Bowl thread.

How is it contradicting what I stated? It will live on for a time, which you seemed to be unwilling to recognize. I NEVER stated that it wouldn't go away eventually. The disagreement was about how long it would take.

In other threads or by other people, maybe. You stated emphatically 4 years and were persistent in defending that period of time for a while.
