It's all about the MONEY.
I am a season ticket holder. I am also an ALUM of LSU.
Bottom line, is I, and THOUSANDS don't want to hear STTDB. I couldn't care less if the student section chants "you suck" or "kick their arse" or "a-hole." The students don't chant it at baseball, basketball or softball or tennis or...
It's not appropriate and that IS the bottom line.

I don't have season tickets and just buy them outside the stadium. My neighbor does give me his about twice a year and he's on the 25 yd line on the E side. That''s the worst. The uppers are by for the most kid friendly IMO.

He's not the one trying to police language. But I guess that's just a little too hard for you to get.

I HATE agreeing with you. But you're right. You will hear worse out of fans within 15 ft of you than you will from the Student Section.

ummm....look I know its only the middle of the day and all but I'm tired and busy and not sure WTF youre talking about.
I simply stated that you cant call people names (on TD) and then fuss when others do the same to you...im not sure what other hidden agenda youre referring to. But please feel free to expound....Im all ears!!

quote:This selective morality is exactly why we shouldn't legitimize their agenda by listening to their "concerns." Public drunkenness and open containers on campus aren't a problem, but bad words from the student section must be dealt with?
If you idiots want to clean up Tiger Stadium then I suggest you ban tailgating and give breathalyzer tests at the gate to keep all the drunks out.
Neither is a problem, of course.

Then you're just as dumb as I think you are. As usual, you've missed the point. This does help me understand your terrible posting habits though.

Stop trying to boss people around for saying things you don't like them to say. THAT is inappropriate.

Well, I don't consider myself an old fart. I'm mature enough to know when and when not to curse though. I just don't give a shite about the SS doing it. It's a massive waste of time to worry about it. I mean hell, it was before my time but didn't they used to have a chant about rice coming out of a chinaman's arse? That's far more inappropriate than STTDB. Yet, I'll bet some of those in this thread bitching about STTDB used to do the chinaman chant themselves.

have never been to a game where there weren't at least a dozen grown me within a 20 ft radius that dropped the f bomb after every play.
And if an entire section of season ticket holders started chanting STTDB, then someone would text "HELP" to the text number on the billboards around Tiger Stadium and you'd have all kinds of troopers and marshalls coming up to whatever section to kick people out.
I've seen enough over the years to bet my last dollar on it.

Why aren't they doing that to the students? Surely some of the season ticket holders in the NEZ could text if it was such an issue, right?

I said they shouldn't do this. I never said that they shouldn't be able to. I've not questioned the University's right to police its events; I am not, therefore, the hypocrite you called me. You attributed to me an argument I never made.
If you are claiming that they shouldn't do this, then you are indeed the hypocrite that I am stating because you did state on 10/17:
quote:
Those who have no current active affiliation with the University can learn to mind their own business and let the University police itself.
Do you understand now or do you need to look up the definition of a hypocrite?
quote:
"Absurdist" and "absurd" are adjectives that do not mean the same thing. You are obviously unaware of this and are in no place, therefore, to take personal jabs at me for using words that you do not appear to understand.
Using an absurdist analogy is not namecalling, and your idea that my analogy equates terrorists with the language police is not only absurd, but an insult to terrorists.
I absolutely understand the definition of absurdist, which is why I made the statement that I did. I never said that an absurdist analogy was name calling. I said that the argument was absurd.
quote:
Your namecalling is weak and valueless.
How is calling a hypocrite a hypocrite weak and valueless. Would calling a teacher a teacher be weak and valueless?

The good folks in my section police our own...if someone is acting like a total jackazz...which never happens with the regulars..only when some drunk morons wanders in and plop down in seats that don't belong to them....theyre asked nicely at first to knock it off.

I'm not bossing anyone around. I don't go up to students and tell them to shut up.
If you cannot comprehend what the modicum of acceptable behavior is at a public event, then you are beyond help. You can be loud without yelling about fellatio.
As someone stated earlier, what speech is acceptable and what is not depends on the audience. Networks don't want STTDB on their broadcasts. Parents don't want their kids hearing it.
I hope LSU moves a chunk of the students up to the upper deck. Other universities do it. There are plenty of people who would take over those seats.
quote:
"What others say is none of your business."
It is my business. I represent LSU whenever I wear the purple and gold. As an LSU grad, it is MY university. I want people to respect it.
And to the person talking about what Wisconsin chants, LSU is NOT Wisconsin.
LSU > Wisconsin.
