The LSU women's basketball team picked up a commitment on Tuesday from a rising freshman forward.

Meghan Yarnevich, a 6-foot-2 post player from Maryland, is now set to become both the fifth high-school recruit signed to what's already the nation's top-ranked freshman class and the likely final piece of the overhaul coach Kim Mulkey and her staff are giving their frontcourt.

The Tigers now have four post players on their 2025-2026 roster: two freshmen and two transfers.

Why do they call her a rising freshman if she’s still in HS?

Just watched some of her highlights on her social media. Very physical player. Lefty. Looks like a competitor that doesn’t back down. I bet she will be a Mulkey favorite with her toughness. Good grab at the buzzer of this signing class.

Was going to post the same thing. Solid built. Looks like she moves pretty well too. I could see her playing some early, but by year 2 or 3 could be a very important piece if she sticks.

I wonder why some of the better programs didn’t recruit her? I know the answer, do you?
