I don't know where they were sitting, but the broadcasters were pretty adamant about the ball being foul and yes only two umpires in a game of this magnitude is incredible ... how Bush League is that. That is hard to comprehend...I surely thought they would have 4 on the field.

Not to mention the umpires have to make the call in real time without the benefit of slow motion instant replay from the comfort of a recliner.
There is zero fault in that being called fair. 1) because it was and 2) it was a close call on a ball that was scorched with a diving 3rd baseman blocking the view to an extent.
Some of the pitch calls, different story.

I actually think the ump thought the third baseman touched the ball which would also be understandable

1. The broadcast crew has been horrendous.
2. They have 3 umpires, and although I don't agree the home plate ump has everything to the bag.

It definitely was foul and our girls definitely got screwed, which absolutely sucked. I'm also surprised at the amount of you that thought that ball was fair. You guys must not know anything about baseball/softball, or you're completely fricking blind.

I can't for the life of me understand how you can argue that it's foul. Clearly a fair ball. It's fair with the angle shown and would be even more fair if the view was straight down the line. The ball only has to cross over a part of the bag and does not have to land in fair territory past the base, provided that its last contact with the ground prior to crossing over the base is in fair territory. This was clearly the case here.
Also, as was mentioned it's the plate umpire's call for everything to the bag. Although you want to be in the best position possible to make the call (in a straight line looking down 3B), it would be impossible to do so given how hard the ball was hit.

Fair ball. People are dumb.
You'd think the fact that there wasn't even a discussion on it from the LSU bench/coaches would be a pretty good hint as to the feel for it from the field...but no, these recliner umps saw it better I guess.
