Au contraire, that last three pter by UNLV at the buzzer(I believe Anderson Hunt?), as LSU defenders raced out of his way near the arc, was anything but meaningless. The line was either 2.5 or 3ish? Rebs covered by either the hook or a single pt.

Three of the Rebels five losses iin 1990 came against Kansas, Oklahoma and LSU – all with players of note serving some sort of suspension(phone bill scam). No Moses Scurry and Stacey Augmon for the LSU game if I recall correctly. Thus the inflated LSU spread, of a game that figured near pick 'em. Brown and Tark were close friends(both NCAA antagonists), both teams came in preseason #1 and #2, LSU was off the a mediocre 13-4 season to date, thus I thought it was gonna be that close regardless of the suspensions.

I had UNLV for a nickel. Twas the 'wrong side', but cashed anyways. Also UCLA against a great Oregon team, OSU vs a decent USC,etc..

Later that same day, I had San Fran minus the gaudy number vs Den for game, every quarter, miscellaneous player props on Montana and Rice, etc..cashed 11 of the 12 SB bets..

Strong day for a then young collegian, had multiple other local outs, but put one young LSU BM in a world of hurt..he cut me loose..had to pay me off in installments over months.

Much like say Chris Duhon's 40 ft bomb at the end of Duke-UConn 2004 Title Gm, it was anything but "meaningless" to a certain faction of game fans.

The things we remember based off of our bets. How bout my wedding day? My bride made me swear off gambling once we got married so I placed my biggest bet ever on my wedding day. We have video of all the groomsmen and I watching the game on tv before the wedding, and I remember getting updates from my buddies as we walked out to the front to start the wedding. We all coverend a 1.5 point spread when the losing team failed to convert the 2 pt conversion while trying to tie the game up. Cha-ching!!!
