Doyle has been a liability, she swings at pitch at her head to pop up for 2 outs.
She looked awful today at the plate, these at bats aren't even competitive.

She has had more runners get thrown out at home than any 3rd base coach I have ever seen.

Doyle has been the biggest Liability in the lineup. She has had no power. And her average isn’t high. She’s starting because she’s a senior on a very young infield. It would’ve been better if they stolen thymes and let Sunseri hit. My trust is very low in Doyle.

Passed ball moves Thyme to 3B. with 2 outs
Tidwell strikes out on a bad pitch that was a ball.
LMU wins 1-0

I was a little worried about the long travel yesterday and early start today. Sounds like the bats were sleepy.
If they don't get their heads in the right place, this tournament could be a disaster with what they have coming in the next 2 days.

Someone needs to correct Tidwell's long swing. I wonder what videos Dobson watches to do that?

Andrews had 2 hits and Briggs had 1.
That was it for the game.
I wonder it LMU's pitcher was that good or they just weren't hitting.

Sunseri, Doyle and Stewart need to get it together. They are hurting LSU a lot right now at the plate with very uncompetitive at bats.
Whats sad is all the new starters have looked dramatically better than them. I know its early but upperclassmen like Doyle and Sunseri have to be much better and have more competitive at bats.
I don't know what Is up with Stewart, not the same kid I saw hit a bunch of great pitchers down the stretch last year.
Sunseri is now hitting .222 on the year, Doyle is hitting .231 and Stewart .222. Tidwell is slowly falling as well.

Well the pitching is only going to get harder from here on out with SEC play coming up in a couple weeks.
Tidwell is what she is, she has always had a pretty long swing. Like Springfield, I am concerned that is won't hit with any consistency against good pitching.

Outside of a couple games against very weak pitchers, our bats overall haven’t looked good thus far. I see no reason why Cummins wouldn’t be in the lineup for every game. With the struggles of scoring against even slightly above average pitchers we need to ride the couple hot bats we actually have at the moment. Cummins doesn’t have to catch to be able to hit.

Stewart and Sunseri... they’ve been under performing, but I’m not that upset. They’ll get it together. Doyle... continues to struggle and she just doesn’t look good in the box. Even on her hits she’s pulling balls on the outside corner. Perkins is Doyle’s back up and in only 3 at bats, she’s produced the same as Doyle. Doyle just gives such a Senior presence on the infield which I think why she still starts.
But I was so surprised when Beth bunted Sunseri. She was our best hitter last year. And you bunt her for two girls who aren’t the most clutch. Doyle and Tidwell are the top two on the team in strikeouts. The only difference is Tidwell has at least produced against the bad teams. Doyle is struggling against everyone.
Tidwell is made for the bottom of the lineup. She’s gonna sit in the 7 hole and she’ll strike out a lot, but she has pop and she produces for time to time. Remember, other than Sanchez at second base last year, we’ve had years of under producing since Allison Falcon left. We’ve complained about Quinn, Bourg, early Sanchez, and Schulte. Quinn was the most consistent and lord knows how much we’ve complained about her. Tidwell will be solid for us, but if you’re expecting all SEC numbers than that won’t happen.
Here’s my take away I think the top of our lineup will be fine Andrews, Briggs, Pleasants, Clark, Cummins, Sunseri (in that order too). The bottom three spots of Doyle (or Perkins), Tidwell (maybe a little Abrams), and Stewart (or Jones, not Antoine/Weinberger I’ve seen enough).
At the end of the day, there’s no need to stress over this lost. We have another game in 20 minutes against a top 25 team. Looks like Andrews is waking up which will help us a lot. Even though Kilponen struggled today, she only gave up 1 run. Let’s get the bats going.

The very big difference between the two is that Springfield was being put in the 4/5 hole. I don’t know about y’all, but I’ll take .259, 10hr, 41 RBIs from our 7/8 hole hitter. That’s why I don’t have a problem with Tidwell in the lineup or her swing.

May be an unpopular opinion but I hope Perkins gets a start next weekend just to see what else she can do. In limited at bats she has hit the ball harder than Doyle has all season, granted it was against weaker competition but even Doyle hasn't hit the weaker teams that hard. I am not saying bench. Doyle permanently or anything but it would be good to explore other options to see what other kids are capable of. The pitching is only going to get harder moving forward.
Victoria Abrams was the hot name and player this past fall with how she hit the ball but it doesn't seem like she will play much this year, she has been the last player on the roster to get pinch hitting opportunities in general next to Goff.

Back to the normal lineup with Gorsuch pitching and Antoine in RF. Stewart now hitting every other game.

Antoine has literally been worst than Stewart, which is why she lost her job to Briggs. Like I want to see Jones get a chance cause Antoine hasn’t impressed me at all

Tech with runners on the corners 1 out
Gorsuch walks 2nd batter, she steals 2nd and a bloop single to right center field.
