Lost 3 games to teams that between them lost a total of three games.
The defense was a disaster of course but you still had to trot out a really good team to beat LSU this year despite this because the offense was so good.
The Missouri win looks pretty good in retrospect as they only dropped one other game all year and that was to #1 Georgia.
The near loss to Ole Miss doesn't look so bad. Ole Miss' only losses were to Alabama and Georgia.
The blowout loss to Florida State? Well, nobody else on their schedule beat them either.

Just a quick reminder the FSU game was not a blowout loss, despite how people keep pushing that narrative.
We led at halftime and started the 4th quarter with the ball and only down by 7.
But people wanna act like we got worked for 60 minutes.

Championship seasons don’t come around every year for LSU. The ingredients were there for a run this season. The coaching staff (with some bad luck) wasted the opportunity.
It was great to watch Daniels and the WRs this year. Daniels’s play will be just below Burrow as the benchmark for future QB success. So while this year was by no means “bad”, to me, it was a missed opportunity

The defensive talent wasn’t there for a championship run. Plain and simple. It was there in 2022 because all the transfers worked out and stayed reasonably healthy. It wasn’t in 2023 because virtually none of the transfers panned out except for Jordan Jefferson.
