I didn't see any stipulation about the QBs being Miles recruits.

You rarely see a League Chump post without a dis on Miles or some other LSU coach/player.

I think it's a legit argument with Les and QBs.

Of course Mett is a Les recruit. RP too. RP was a great get and well, ended up being RP. Mett had one very good year.

You can't blame Les that he had JR in 2005 and 2006 and MF in 2007 from a previous regime. That's just silly. He played the best QB.

RP should have been the QB in 2008, but Les had no backup plan. Unless you consider JJ and JL backup plans. The issue is from 2009-2013. JJ and JL weren't SEC starter material as QBs. Les signed RS with the shot he'd get a chance at QB. Instead, RS never even attempted a pass while JJ and JL were shitting the bed as QBs.

I'm not going to take that to mean AJ or Harris won't be good QB's. Having Cam is a great asset to the program and our QBs.

But it's not some made up idea that Les has had less success recruiting solid SEC QBs than any other position on the team. Seems more factual actually.

I think RS was a QB recruiting fail and going by HS film, I doubted LSU ever really had big QB plans for him.
Others were pretty good recruits, but without proper development and some misuse.

RP- Slam dunk without a crystal ball foreseeing maturity issues.

Lee- Shined in HS, but thrown in sink or swim, due to above, plus Crowton was a QB destroyer. Lee seemed to never recover until a new OC hired and decision making was still never Sr. level.

JJ- Pretty awesome in HS. Also thrown into the fire without benefit of SEC caliber OL or run game.and actually had respectable stats for 1st year QB under the circumstances. Then asked to work at running, instead of improving his pocket passing. Also suffered decision problems from lack of QB tutorin.

I'm sure somebody will pipe in about Miles being responsible for development, but this was about actual recruiting.
I'm not sure Luck, RG3, et al, would have fared much better under the LSU passing game at the time. Routes were ugly, concepts bland and offense just incohesive. Krags at least brought in football with a purpose, with constraint plays featuring PA off a good rush attack.
The next couple years will be the showcase for Cam's prowess with developing QBs vs The Whiz.

Funny how this thread from May was deadly accurate about the season, even tho the pumpers denied Les' inability to win due to poor QB recruitment

Since Sabans QBs left in 07, Miles has one championship caliber year - the one where he was forced to start a qb that he had no confidence in.
