Everyone says LSU football has lots of talents, so how who is being targeted as 1st round draft choices. Ciron Black?
Posted on 5/27/09 at 12:25 pm to Rockerbraves
Lafell, Woods, and Black are legitimate 1st rounders
Posted on 5/27/09 at 12:26 pm to Rockerbraves
Brandon LaFell
Borderline 1st/2nd round
Charles Scott

Charles Scott

LaFell and Black for 2010 draft.
EDIT: Woods hasn't done anything yet and Scott isn't a 1st rounder because he's way too slow.

Didn't realize lafell is that highly regarded by the nfl scouts?

His hands are the biggest drawback that might prevent him from being selected top 20. He is the proto-typical NFL receiver for size and speed.
Hell if he runs a good 40 time in the 4.3 range, Al Davis might select him as top 5 pick.

LaFell will be playing in Honolulu for years to come.

If Charles Scott makes improvements again this year, he may be first round.

Charles Scott is a Jamal Lewis clone!

Not in the 1st freaking round. He'll need to have a HUGE year to be drafted in the 1st...and what has he shown so far to believe he's a 1st rounder?

Beanie Wells is EASILY faster than Scott...and bigger as well. Scott has basically no breakaway speed which is why he got a mid-round grade this year after his big year. He'll be at best a 2nd rounder with another big year.

Low 1st rounder on most mock drafts. 2nd round grade for this year's draft which he passed on. Great size (6'2-6'3, 215) and good speed (4.5-ish) combination after a very productive year with troubles at QB. Show once again this year he's a good blocker and doesn't drop anything and he's a surefire 1st rounder.

Agree 100%. I would add that there is an outside chance that Rahim Alem could potentially get there if he has a huge number of sacks as a first year starter. If our defense will be as aggressive as advertised and he can pull off 15 sacks then I think he has a shot albeit a long one.

And I will add that I think Black will be the first Tiger taken followed by LaFell.

Alem is definitely the "new" guy to look out for as a potential 1st rounder who hasn't stepped into a starting role before. 8 sacks as a backup is ridiculous in a year and if he keeps his motor going he could easily get double digit sacks as a starter. His stock automatically rises as many NFL teams are going to a 3-4 and he fits the rush OLB in a 3-4 EXTREMELY well with his size (6'3, 255).

Ciron - Mid 1st rounder
LaFell - Mid 1st round to early 2nd round
C. Scott - Second round unless he runs the 40 of his life.
R. Alem - 3rd or 4th rounder???
A. Woods - 6th or 7th rounder at best.
IMO/IMHO

Lafell was projected in the top 20 when he was coming out this year and that is with a fairly deep WR class. If he has another good year he will be top 15 IMO.
