UT had Vince Young and offered the dream matchup of the century, vs. Leinart and Bush. The SEC didn't have the clout they do now. There's not a chance anyone would have jumped either team. Especially since the Big XII was still playing a championship game back then, one which Texas won 70-3.

Nevermind, I concede. Frustrating that potentially our best team ever would have been Auburned after having only won the damn title only two years earlier.

Their Administration recognized it, and did what it took. They've always have done what it took, including cheating, but they get it done.

If I told you that as I sat in TigerStadium watching LSU's 2006 team beat Bama 28-14, in a ho-hum disinterested effort by the Tigers, with whispers of Saban wanting out of Miami, that I could feel Mal Moore's anger across the stadium, and had a premonition that he'd go get Saban, and win huge..you'd call me a liar.

If I could only dig up threads further back than I can retrieve here, stating that he would win all the titles he now has, once at Bama, and that it was imperative to let his back-channelers get their way, in rehiring him, as to cockblock Bama, as much as give LSU the best HC in the land..you'd call me a liar.

Sure it would've been highly unethical, but it was imperative, if possible, to make it happen..

Now we're at that point Bobby Knight spoke of "I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it."

He wasn't as good here

Did you forget he took 1990's shite and made it a champion in 4 years. Comes to Bama, takes a shitty-mediocre team and turns it in a champion in 3 years. I promise you that if he had stayed, we'd had that dynasty 3 years ago.

Miles isn't terrible, he just needs to let the COs do what they get paid for and manage the situation.
