really sucks that our DL is playing as well as it is with elite corners on the outside only for it not to matter with how poor our LBs and safeties have been
That's the big enigma. How can we be that solid in those 2 position groups but yet get such poor overall results. Teams with just one solid group (Arky's solid LB group for example) get better overall results.

Logic dictates that means those LBs and Ss are the worst ever... but that's not true.

Then the next logical conclusion is that their weaknesses are so glaring is the opponents are attacking them relentlessly... and that is true. Our scheme has to adjust for that.

Our linebackers have been playing so much better since UCLA. I don’t get the gate for their play. Rewatch the last two games, but I will see how we do against a SEC school this weekend

I know a lot of people got down on the D Line after the second half of the UCLA game, but that’s the only poor stretch they’ve had. They weren’t getting any help from the offense or the rest of the defense and just wore down. They have been impressive other then that stretch.

Now we’re going to find out how they really stack up. There’s no measuring stick like SEC play.

Point being, O has put ALL of his emphasis on having an "attacking" DL...seemingly at the expense of a good OVERALL defense.

There’s a big schematic difference this year, though. How many times have you seen us blitz 6 guys this season? I can only think of one play vs UCLA off the top of my head. We are only pass rushing 4, maybe 5 this year. The line is generating the pressure pretty much by themselves. That is not an “attacking defense.”
