So he'd be a cheap hire?

The NCAA infractions committee on Wednesday barred former Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl from all recruiting activities for three years as punishment for various rules violations, including providing false information to investigators and encouraging others to do the same.
Pearl’s punishment does not prohibit him from accepting another coaching job at an NCAA member institution but would not allow him to recruit players in that position until August 2014.

I just feel like he would be so popular and connect with the fanbase so well. You know we'd get people at the games and he'd eventually recruit like hell.

like S said, I'd hate to trade a guy who figuratively cannot recruit for one who literally cannot recruit.

He'd find some sketchy way to get kids here.

Big name?? TF?
The guy has coached like 17 yrs in college and gone no further than Sweet 16 twice.
Not saying he wouldn't heat up the message boards or bring some excitement to LSU basketball, but he doesn't strike me as a "big name" hire.

Thanks. Shaka smart is at vcu and pearl was at UT. Did anothy grant, who was an assistant for billy Donavan at UF, coach at vcu before Shaka?

yup. and Capel was there before Grant

Floyd ain't been bigtime for over a decade. Why LSU fans are still hung up on him is perplexing.
Exactly! There really hasn't been great timing for LSU to make a run at Floyd. He wouldn't have come here when we hired Brady...remember we were under draconian (
I'd give Trent one more year to make the NCAA tournament. His missteps have been well documented, but the situation isn't as bad as some make it out to be. We are one decent wing scorer away from being an NCAA tourney team, IMO.

Capel, wasn't he the one that got ou in trouble? I remember him playing for duke.

LOL, that's EXACTLY why he shouldn't coach at LSU. NCAA will be looking at him HARD if he coaches again. REALLY bad idea.

I can go either way.
The end to this season, to this point in time, has been disappointing.
The fact we will have a winning season for the 1st time in 2 years and the fact we won 7 SEC games as opposed to 5 combined in our last two years, is somewhat encouraging.
We seem to be getting more talent into the program.
Overall, I had hoped for better than mediocre or last than 4 seasons into Trent's LSU career.

No he has never won anything. Never , Never ,Never
