As a highly touted freshman in 2013, Bregman took the baseball nation by storm and was a focal point in bringing LSU back home to Omaha. However, he was also partly responsibly for a quick exit after a costly error at shortstop against UCLA and a hitless showing in both of the Tiger’s losses. With the old guard of Mason Katz, JaCoby Jones and Raph Rhymes off to the pros, Bregman becomes the unquestioned leader of the 2014 Tigers. With that added pressure plus the humongous chip on his shoulder from his failures in Omaha, will it be too much for him to handle or will it provide the necessary motivation that makes him an even more potent player?

Because of a relatively modest out of conference schedule, the answers to that question may not become clear until LSU enters SEC play. But even then, Bregman’s approach to the game was quite fun to watch last season and, for the sake of the sport, hopefully that continues.
