I loved the idea someone posted about busing the other two conventions out to the NASCAR race on Saturday. Would get them out of the bars and off of the streets, and some great video to watch when I get back.

BTW, Atlanta guys-are these recommended bars cool with shorts/polos/tees?

Thanks for all the info btw.

The downtown places we are recommending... Pittypat's is a little more upscale, really a great choice if you want to meet friends in a less noisy Old South environment and want some really good vittles and signature drinks.

I really could not recommend Pittypats. It was the place in the 80s and has not changed since (unless it has upgraded a lot in the last couple of years).

The signature drinks are very expensive tourist fare and the food is very bland and sloppily served.

I don't mean disrespect to Tiger TBone. Truly. And my review is based on my experience about 3 years ago.

I'd choose Dantannas or Taco Mac.

Or catch a cab up to The Vortex for a real "experience."

If I were everyone I would stay in Buckhead

It's not the same as it once was but there are some good spots in theh area. In the guide we recommend Cheyenne Grille and Buckhead Saloon in Buckhead. Both places recently renovated, Saloon has a BR based band reunion Friday night. Cheyenne has really decent menu and good service.

Both are year-round sponsors of LSU alumni. WHY spend money at places that hang UGA banners all year and will laugh at you while they count your money??? Appreciate you telling the mgt. at any of the places we list in the Fan Guide that you appreciate their support for Looziana folks in the ATL.

THANKS!

No problem. Pittypat's is a more "mature" type of restaurant/lounge but you will be comfy any other places we listed.

Love that bus comment too!

No disrespect taken, this is America right? At least last time I checked about 3 years ago LOL.

Pittypat's is not a sports bar or hot spot. It is the oldest restaurant in ATL going on 41 years in business. Something is right when you can accomplish that. I ate there in July and it was really good. Not cheap but really good. They will have a reasonable bar menu during the day Saturday, they usually don't open until 5 pm.

It's attraction is Old South charm and decor matched with good food and service. It's not the place for a group of tailgating fans to raise hell at the bar. Go to Sidebar- they will encourage you to raise hell. Pittypat's is however the PERFECT place for more mature fans to go enjoy a well made cocktail or signature drink, have some chef-prepared kicked up comfort food and enjoy conversation without a lot of noise/distractions.

The place is a favorite for conventions, apparel mart folks and executives downtown. It is a great alternative to hotel bars and clip joints for a certain demographic of our visitors that want that kind of experience.

Hope this helps. We partnered with places that made the most sense for the whole spectrum of Tiger fans.

I misunderstood this part. And this changes my perspective.

I frequent the Food and Drink Board, and from what I remember about PPP, it is not a food place I would recommend to those guys (i.e. food snobs ).

As a place to enjoy company and have a decent meal, totally different thing. Thanks for the clarification.

Yep. Foodies will turn their noses on places like this and ATL offers hundreds of cutting edge options for people looking for those experiences.

For our more 'refined' folks traveling in, staying at high end hotels downtown and looking for a nearby place with some decent atmosphere to go with like minded people, it's a super alternative to a sterile hotel bar or restaurant.

Lots of TAF and LSU Alumni traveling Tigers at the Omni. This place is a five minute walk across Centennial Park and right across the street from the Westin.

Be kind to them. They used to wear suits and work at Home Depot, Coke, Delta, Georgia Pacific, Kimberly Clark etc. etc. etc.

Seriously, ATL has a large homeless population. Most have been swept out of the convention and tourist areas but are all around the fringe of downtown. Most are also harmless other than the panhandling, but as advised in the fan guide, don't venture too far off the beaten path on the north and east ends and I would avoid Underground Atlanta and its immediate environs. Also don't attempt to walk from downtown to midtown, it's not pedestrian friendly and there are some hot spots along that way. Cab or MARTA for any distances folks!

Mentioned the other weirdness going on in the Fan Guide under the What The Heck Was That? section. There's DragonCon, a Black Gay Pride Festival in Midtown and a NASCAR race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

With all of that going on, I figure every Bama fan for 300 miles will be in ATL too!

WTF...

Think I'll stay in buckhead friday night and hit the block party...

Then Premium parking at the dome with a room at the ritz carlton... to Tailgat from SUV and Room...
