Even that is being charitable. 20/1 would be shitty odds. Only the most diehard moron would take LSU to win the title at less than 50/1, and even that would be a heart/not head bet.

Exactly, yet this thread has quite a few lining up to grab 9/1 like they're giving away candy, and berate me for not picking a 12-0 campaign yearly.

There is a reason I quit the Rant for MSB and SEC boards a few years back..sometimes when it's slow, I come back to remind myself.

If they would give me 1 to 9 on the field (other than LSU), I would bet every cent I could get my fingers on. If 1 to 9 on the field is better than 9 to 1 on us, then 9 to 1 on us is a bad bet.

It's one of those bets that you just take since there is an outside shot imo. $200 wasn't much to drop down so what the hell.

Understandable, but 50 to 1 isn't a good percentage bet. If you were betting Kentucky at 10,000 to 1, you'd still be donating the same $200, but at least you'd get some major money if the miracle happened. $10,000 (50 to 1 with $200 bet) would be nice, but not life-changing, so I don't see the point of throwing away the $200. But who knows? The way things happen, the idiot who bets on LSU at 9 to 1 may win his bet.

Your odds are still better than gambling it away. We all blow money in our different ways. This definitely isn't the worst for me. The good percentage bets aren't worth the time value of money.

You do realize LSU recruits fairly well, right?

Sure, I see them yearly in the top five behind Bama at #1. Am also aware that the b-2-b natty champ has more returning starters and proven contributors to date. Or that LSU when more experienced, and loaded with NFL draft ready players last year than this coming one, lost three times, and played ATM, UM, and Ark to the wire.

Or that LSU has a long 100 year history of rarely going unbeaten, losing home games in it's last two natty title seasons, and losing twice with the far best team in the country in 2007..

Which, like Bama's last two natty title winning campaigns, dropping a homer is a very rare formula for a school from any conference to win the natty title.

And that schedule is a huge factor in title runs, thus playing at loaded Bama and UGA, with elite level QBs back for dominant home winning percentage programs(even if LSU won in it's last trip to each stadium)..

Makes it an uphill battle, yet not impossible.

P.S. Sorry I'm not more gung-ho and guns ablazing about 2013. Expecting 9-3/8-4 isn't what I'd call being a doomsayer..just expecting a slight rebuild on the fly of an elite LSU program.

You said 9-3. For the regular season.

LSU recruits too well to go 9-3 with an experienced QB and offensive line.

One of us will have to remind the other when the season's done. Hope I'm wrong.

I will take it! The Tigers are going to win a few that no one thinks they will!

I won't remember you to have to remind you when I'm right.

If you got 50/1 action, I hope you laid a wad on it..

LSU is in a prime position right now. Yeah, we lost a lot on the defensive side of the ball, but we are pretty much a plug-n-play system on that side of the ball. The offense is what makes us a dangerous team. We have a great returning group, and with CC calling the plays, no one really knows how to prepare for us. It will be vanilla for the first 4-5 weeks, then the gloves come off. We could realistically run the table and be in the NC game. And given our team make-up, I like our chances against anyone.. Gonna be a great year for the Tigers baby..

Sorry about not rotating it.

I only put down $200. Growing up in LV gambling doesn't thrill me that much.

Surely they left out a zero on that number next to Miami.

I seriously think something was wrong or they were really trying to pull people in. Either way, they better honor my bet if I win.

50-1 odds is a good bet. Name a team that has more talent on offense then LSU position by position. Defense pretty much sucked last year so I definitely think we will be better because of the fresh faces. When they needed a stop they didn't get it and the ball was thrown over our head pretty much the whole year. For some reason I think anthony johnson and ego will pressure the QB like no defensive tackles before them. Ronald martin will be the best player in LSU secondary and leave for the NFL after this year. We also will have that quick fast headbuster of a linebacker core. If we upset alabama which is always possible and beat Texas am then were one of the better teams in the country. I'll give ya'll that game against georgia because it's looking rough right now. Alot of people will be surprised at how good we really are but they will realize it quick after week 1. Everyone that thinks LSU will lose all these games need to wake up. LSU still loaded with NFL players from top to bottom.

Sure thing, guy. #11 nationally in ppg, #8 nationally in ypg. 2 first round picks, 1 second round pick, 2 more 3rd round picks.

I'm as excited as anybody to see some of the fresh faces on defense, and I think we have nearly unlimited potential, but you sound like a clown saying the defense pretty much sucked last year.

By the way, were you intentionally directing this reply to me, because my comment was solely about Miami, not LSU.

The great thing about this thread is that nobody realizes that LSU is 9-1 to win the SEC not the National Championship.
