Oh, so LSU was a must see attraction last year?
From a Baton Rouge and surrounding area standpoint you could say yes. More and more people treated it like a must see attraction as the year went on.

Thats a stretch especially considering attendance and media attention
Look, i really want JJ to be an awesome coach. But giving him credit for the media sensation of Ben Simmons is kinda ridiculous.
This is a big year for him to prove himself

Attendance was much larger last year than the previous 3 years.

But wouldn't the attendance growing throughout the year mean that it was becoming a must see attraction to people?
Posted on 11/24/15 at 2:37 pm to purplengold1
Yes, if attendance grows from 1 to 2, it is now becoming a must see attraction
A worldwide sensation, if you will

How do you watch the game and deduce is was our bigs inability to defend inside that cost us the game. Anybody who watched the game had to see it was our incredibly bad perimeter defense that was why we lost. Their guards got into the lane at will, which led to layup after layup. Since JJ has been there we have been atrocious defending the ball. It appears even with athletic guards JJ still can't get them to defend the ball worth a crap.

The sad part, it's the minority who are he loudest. The vast majority love and can see what CJJ is doing. At the end of the game last night, we had a Junior, Sophomore, 3 freshmen on the floor. No matter what we say about the Australian games, last night was a real test in a real atmosphere. I'm about to nap so I can head back over there soon. Looking forward to our boys wrecking shop
You do understand in today's college basketball, you can't have both talent and upperclassmen? If guys are really good they will leave after one or two years. This BS about having sophomores and freshmen on the court does not fly anymore.

Thats how
eta: But you cant really play defense on the ball handler anymore without drawing a foul. So I dont blame perimeter d for that

People keep saying this. Yes we understand good teams are young. But reasonable people understand that there may be some slip ups early in the year because of the youth.

You need to understand basketball. If the other teams ball handler is beating his man off the dribble and forcing the other teams bigs to cut him off, which results in an easy dump off for a layup, its not the bigs fault. Its the perimeter defense's inability to keep the guy out of the lane that led to the layup. This isn't difficult, assuming of course you even remotely understand basketball.

Maybe you should study up on the new rules and watch a few games before telling someone they dont understand basketball.
Right now, fast guards are almost unguardable. And Im not disagreeing with you in any way that perimeter defense would prevent them from getting it the lane. But dude, thats not realistic, and if you arent able to do it, then YOU SHOULD PROBABLY PLAY GOOD INTERIOR DEFENSE.
The refs are emphasizing calling hand checks on the ball handler. This bs happens every year, they keep telling the refs all off season to focus on something and at the beginning of the year its awful. Right now you are not allowed to touch the ball handler in any way if they are facing the basket, or it is a foul. Do you understand how insanely hard that is going to make guarding the perimeter? Youre living in a fantasy world by blaming the perimeter d. Plus its not like all their inside points came from guards driving the lane and making layups.

Its basketball, you will have off games, you will have bad shooting games. That's legit. The too young argument nowadays is bogus, particularly when the team you were playing was extremely young too.

The other team is very young. Share with me what happened their first few games.

Not to mention, the little bit of senior leadership we have is not on the floor.

You seriously must not have watched the game last night. We were inept at keeping them out the lane. This wasn't Duke or NC, this was Marquette. If its that impossible to defend on the perimeter, why were our guards not in the lane all night. Why did Simmons feel the need to pass the ball twice in the last possession because he saw no opening in the lane to take. Is it only hard for our guys to play perimeter defense? Its not just the NCAA's point of emphasis on hand checking that makes playing perimeter defense so hard; its taking bad angles, reaching way too much, and not taking responsibility for guarding your man. And if you think Marquette has fast guards, this will be a long season.
