From the 1986 link:
Although I think the one-year probation only covered one year for men's basketball, and even then was only limited to: "Maximum of 13 total and no initial grants in men's basketball for 1987-88."
In any case, if you click on the "View Public Report" button, you see the following summary on the first page:

MISSION, KANSAS--The National Collegiate Athletic Association's Committee on Infractions announced today that Louisiana State University has been placed on probation for a period of one year for violations occurring in the sport of football.
Included in the penalties is a requirement for the institution to submit a written report to the NCAA by February l, l987, that identifies measures taken to ensure that football coaching staff members are knowledgeable regarding NCAA legislation.
No sanction affecting postseason competition or television appearances was imposed against the university.
One current assistant football coach was involved in a recruiting violation in the case, and action was taken to require him to complete the course of instruction regarding NCAA legislation and to limit his off-campus recruiting activities during the l986-87 academic year. The violations did not involve any other current football coach.
Although the NCAA's action completes its review of the university's football program, inquiries are continuing into the men's basketball program, and the university will appear again before the Committee on Infractions at a future hearing.
"The violations found in football were not considered serious in nature," said Frank J. Remington, chair, NCAA Committee on Infractions, "and they did not demonstrate a pattern of abuse by the football coaching staff.

Who was the mysterious assistant football coach showering these prized recruits with free hotel rooms, expensive meals at Mike Anderson's (or wherever it was), and my favorite, "$33.48 to each young man as reimbursement for round-trip automobile transportation, even though another prospective student-athlete transported them for the visit"?

How many times has Bama violated?
Which year?

Also, how many other SEC football programs have never been put on probation?
Thank you very much, Port City, for the link to the NCAA Legislative Service Database Home Page ( LINK).
Now I can answer my own question:
1/11/57, Auburn -- 3 years probation
(And yet they still celebrate their 1957 national championship team; tsk, tsk.)
1/11/57, Florida -- 2 years probation
4/21/58, Auburn -- 3 years probation
10/27/59, Ole Miss -- 1 year probation
(I knew this team--the best since the '45 Army team--was too good to be true. And four days before the most famous LSU game in history! Say it ain't so Johnny Vaught!)
1/5/64, Alabama -- "public reprimand" (oooohh!!!)
4/19/64, Kentucky -- 1 year probation
(For out-of-season practice.)
4/12/65, Arkansas -- 1 year probation
(Yet another school who's only national championship team is tainted?)
1/8/67, South Carolina -- 2 years probation
(I'm not sure what's worse--having your only national championship team tainted by major NCAA infractions, or having your only ACC conference championship team tainted by them. Jeez.)
9/17/75, Mississippi State -- 2 years probation
(Did anyone notice?)
12/1/76, Kentucky -- 2 years probation
(More tainted championship teams. In this case, Kentucky's only team to go undefeated in SEC play.)
11/14/78, Georgia -- "public reprimand"
(Boy, the NCAA sure knows how to go after the big fish in the SEC, Alabama and Georgia.)
5/11/79, Auburn -- 2 years probation
11/13/80, Auburn -- 1 year probation
9/20/82, Georgia -- 1 year probation
(This kind of makes you wonder about that 1980 national championship team, Georgia's only AP title I believe.)
1/4/85, Georgia -- 1 year probation
(Bad, Dawgs! Bad!)
1/13/85, Florida -- 2 years probation
(I can't believe Florida got off this easily. Oh well, at least they took away the 1985 SEC title and gave it to Tennessee, and took away the 1984 SEC title and gave it to LSU--oh, wait a minute ... never mind.
10/9/86, Tennessee -- 1 year probation
10/15/86, LSU -- 1 year probation (limited to basketball)
12/16/86, Ole Miss -- 2 years probation
9/20/90, Florida -- 2 years probation
(Mostly basketball related, but on the football side, Florida forfeits its third SEC title--this time, Tennessee gets its second cheap one.)
9/18/91, Tennessee -- 2 years probation
(For the second time in a row, the SEC strips Florida of its championship title in football and gives it to Tennessee, only to have Tennessee get caught committing a major infraction shortly thereafter.)
8/18/93, Auburn -- 2 years probation
(Another perfect season for Auburn; another team without a legitimate claim to a national championship.)
11/17/94, Ole Miss -- 4 years probation
(Wow. That's 7 years of probation racked up by the Rebels already.)
8/2/95, Alabama -- 2 years probation
(This didn't seem to stop Alabama from winning the SEC West tie-breaker with LSU in 1996, did it?)
3/7/96, Mississippi State -- 1 year probation
3/5/97, Georgia -- 2 years probation
1/31/02, Kentucky -- 3 years probation
2/1/02, Alabama -- 5 years probation
(Notice how Bama can't quite get away with as much as used to with The Bear.)
4/17/03, Arkansas -- 3 years probation
10/27/04, Mississippi State -- 4 years probation
11/16/05, South Carolina -- 3 years probation
11/17/05, Georgia Tech -- 2 years probation

Does GT count as SEC since it was in 2005?

That's for you to decide. I just listed all the infractions listed for all 15 teams that were ever in the SEC. Interpret this information however you want.

LSU received draconian NCAA sanctions for one violation tht was committed by a booster. There were no proven violations by Dale Brown or Johnny Jones. Compare that to the penalties handed out to Ohio State, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, and Oklahoma. It's sickening what the NCAA did to this program and it's fan base.

You're right but I can't remember the infraction. Where did Lester end up after Kansas?
