You could tell by watching Ricks last year that he was raw, but he was also just down right nasty. After watching the DBU video, I love the attitude this kid brings. You can tell he's wants to cover and shut down the other team's best receiver. He might get beat on one play, but he's not backing down and dares the QB to challenge him again! You can't teach that drive and attitude! I know LSU has had some great DBs in the past, but Ricks could be at the top of the list if he can continue to improve and keep that hunger and drive to be the best! Can't wait to see him play!

My hot take, for the sakes of hot takes, is that ricks outperforms stingley this year

It could happen, if for no other reason that several QBs just refuse to throw at Stingley. But what a choice between him and Ricks.

Ricks will have his hometown crew watching this game. Hopefully he brings it, and plays smart, and absolutely makes the plays he's supposed to make, and some that he wasn't. Excited to see what he does this year.

Remember how we were all stressing about Eli transferring to Ohio State?

Arguably, Ricks was our best defensive player last year, game in and out.
At times, he was definitely our best DB.
I am still puzzled at Stingley's inconsistency last year and have to assume that rumors about a persistent injury are correct.

Can’t believe he almost transferred. Frick Ohio State for getting in his ear while still on our roster

I am not the one doing a medical diagnosis of players on the field from one of the upper decks. You must really know some stuff...

I agree. I would love to see both Ricks and Stingley dominate their receivers, but I don't think UCLA is going to throw the ball much because their running game looks much stronger than their passing game.
