#1 ranked OU has won the gymnastics NC 2 years in a row, and appear to be almost unbeatable this year again, and yet their arena looks almost empty for a home meet hosting 2 other teams. You've got to give our fans credit. We appear to be the best fans in the world by comparison, nearly packing the PMAC for our last 2 meets. Yet, we seem to be unlucky enough to be peaking at a time when there's an almost unbeatable dynasty keeping us from the promised land. I really hope we do it this year, but man, it almost feels like injustice .

I wouldn't say OU is unbeatable.

There are 3 or 4 teams that can compete with them. LSU, Florida and a couple others are beat up with injuries all over and have a lot of freshman competing.

It will look drastically different by the end of February, trust me

It works in our favor at the moment that we don't come out fully hot and at peak. We are still adding difficulty and different routines. LSU will be fine

Edney and Priessman are still not fully healthy. Campbell is only like 75-80%. Desiderio still not back fully. LSU still has a lot of missing routines from rotation to rotation. In full health, LSU is probably at least .2 to .3 higher in team scores. It'll come, we just need to be patient

I always appreciate your optimism. However, OU will also continue to improve as the season progresses. They are going to be very tough to beat.

The biggest reason, IMO, is because they opt for simpler routines and put a lot of emphasis on their landings. whereas, LSU tends to have much difficult routines that are harder to stick. I wish the NCAA would go to something that is closer to the Olympics where more difficult routines are rewarded.

I do think that with our new training facility, and our attendance, and obviously Jay Clark, that LSU has certainly closed the gap, and may be on the brink of overtaking OU as the premier program in the country.

I said "look" and "almost unbeatable" but whatever.

It's really early and we have a ton of potential so anything's possible. I'm pulling for our girls and really hope we pull it off this year. Kindler has OU's girls performing like a machine though. Whatever mental training she's figured out, it's working gangbusters because they rarely have a meltdown, and it's not like there are no other teams recruiting comperable talent.

It's almost pathetic though how empty their arena is though, considering what that team is currently doing in the sport.

This off season a few teams sent a proposal to the NCAA about this.

All I am sayin is its way too early to hit the panic button. Especially since we aren't near full health rn. In reality it all doesn't matter until day of super six

I mean hell, look at Florida

They returned EVERYONE and add a #1 recruiting class and look at them.

I have seen many years where teams are ridiculously hot early on then slide downhill the last month or two

I've been to a meet there. Its ridiculously borin. Atmosphere is dead, plus their advertisement and promotion is shite for their meets.

The reason OU can afford to do that is they execute so well.

It makes sense to have higher start values and more difficult routines, because it gives more room to recover whenever they mess up. OU's routines don't have as much wiggle room, but they execute so consistently that it doesn't matter. People knock OU for doing what they do, but in reality, nothing is stopping others from doing the same thing. Unfortunately, no one else can. It's not pride stopping them. It's consistency.

With our more difficult routines, we will beat them if we nail everything, but we need to be near perfect, because OU is consistently near perfect almost every time.

I was at the Six last year, and OU looked like a bunch of robots. Very simple routines but they stuck EVERY single landing perfectly. When you watched them in warm-ups and between rotations, all they worked on were sticking landings.

As a former coach (not in gymnastics) I have a significant problem with how LSU warms up and how they allow their athletes to not focus on the landings and allow them to take steps and just kind of walk through things. I think this has a profound effect on your focus heading into the event. OU, like I said, never allowed that type of lackadaisical approach, and their athletes nailed every single landing.

Losing Kelley is tough. She's important because she was the emotional leader, and her floor routine was money.

It's going to be interesting to see who steps up for us this year.

BTW, do you know what happened to Lauren Li?

Mostly friends and family, and they don't travel very well. They're a little entitled, which is to be expected, but mostly nice people.

People don't realize, she was suppose to be a mainstay on vault. She has a 10.0 vault. She was in 9.9's all fall too. It was a major loss

She still trains but Desiderio and Campbell are better. Campbell when she is on is absolutely brilliant and will be scored really well. She will hit some 10's in her career eventually. She needs competition experience. She hasn't competed in like 2 years and still not in full health.

We need to take our lumps early and develop the freshman.

Their big night needs happen on Saturday in the Super Six. LSU was in a world of their own on Friday last season and OU did enough to easily make it to Saturday, but nothing special. Then on Saturday OU kicked it to another level and LSU never got in position to seriously challenge.

Not cool to cheer when another team fails in gymnastics, but in this case......

Hopefully there's a busted rod in their machine this year.

We had two seniors nervously stumble all over and sucked the life out to start the meet.

I will always wonder what could been if they performed like they normally did.

LSU pressed as soon as Zamardi and Sydney put us in a hole

If you notice, Kindler stands in front of every girl and mentally rehearses their entire routine with them right before they get on the beam. She's winning the mental game.
