Some highlights:

"you look at it and say we won an SEC championship, we were a national seed for a fourth straight year, won more games than anybody in the country, swept a regional, swept a super regional after hosting both events. You go to Omaha. You don’t win the national championship but you won a game. Basically finished in the top five in the country. That’s not a bad season."

"There are some things I think we have to do better. Offensively, I think we need to be more productive when we have a runner at third base with less than two outs. I think we need to bunt for hits more frequently, and I think it would be good for us to draw a few more walks. I think our pitchers need to field their position better."

"With all due respect, we get a lot of good players from the state of Louisiana but the Aaron Nolas of the world don’t grow on trees in the state because the state isn’t as populated."

It was disappointing because of how the last game went. Should we judge an entire season by one game?...no.
But did our coach completely shite the bed with his pitching decisions in the biggest game of the year?...yes.
If you cant see that during the year he handled the pitching choices really bad, then I dont know what to tell you. He let Stallings close way to long, and fell in Love with his Freshmen Pitching class... Bain and Godfrey particularly in the Sunday roll. Would never give anyone else a chance.
And then there is the blame on players, and excuses he always has for coaching descisions. Even in this article he talks about Florida, TCU, and Vandy having a recruiting advantage!!!...WTF???!!!
This is college baseball!!....there is no bigger advantage than LSU when it comes to recruiting.
Like I said before, the man is becoming a clown right before our very eyes.

Sounds like the opposite of what Cannizaro wants to accomplish...

I was thinking this as well. That sounds completely opposite of Cannizaro's approach. This will certainly be interesting to watch for next year.

I like how he literally did not even hint at responsibility for a single shortcoming. Yet he flat out says if everyone would have pitched like Godfrey, Bain, and Norman we would have had a mediocre season. He initially says that he won't make excuses but then comes out and says we cant get players like Vandy because we don't attract rich kids who can afford to forgo the draft. He keeps reiterating how hard it is to win at LSU in baseball, and I just can't empathize with him. LSU is easily one of the top 10 programs to win a NC in baseball at. He's got a sizeable advantage over 95% of the competition.

That's my main beef as well. I believe a good college coach is someone who will take the heat off his players and lead by example.

His demeanor and body language are also terrible when things are going smoothly.

He constantly says he doesn't want to make excuses and then vaguely references things which are indeed excuses.

This is not the kind of coach that can galvanize a team. With all the commentary Bregs made about his love for LSU, I saw nothing praising the leadership of his coach.

We will have very good teams in the future, but CPM will never be the difference maker.

Pawl Mainieri needs to stop downvoting legit posts in these threads.

Get back to work on developing some pitching, Pawl
