If a pitcher gives up a game winning home run, he answers the media’s questions.

If a field goal kicker misses the game winning kick, he answers the media’s questions.

If a coach makes a key decision and it doesn’t work, he answers the media’s questions.

BUT IF AN EGOTISTICAL REFEREE/UMPIRE INSERTS HIMSELF INTO THE GAME, HE IS HIDDEN FROM THE MEDIA.

The problem is it’s these types of overzealous clowns that want make themselves part of the game instead of simply manage it and call it are the ones that they advance through the ranks to get to these levels. To call some ticky tack BS like that when the play wasn’t even close it should be so fricking obvious the whole stadium sees it. Otherwise it should never cross your mind to interfere with the flow and gameplay like that

And their buddy that joined the booth is going to “back the blue” and not say anything critical on the “judgment of the call”.

“I’m just here to explain the rule”.

That’s chickenshite. The broadcasters question the coaches and players all game long up in the booth, it’s okay to question the umpire.

The best umpires are invisible. You shouldn’t know they’re there.

Totally agree and it should start with a visible strike zone box for televised games, same as MLB has.
