Lindy's opposing coaches comment on each SEC team

quote:
Alabama
On the coaching staff: “Best coached team in the league. I hate to say it because the guy (Nick Saban) is such a jerk. You wonder how they get taught everything they get taught…If they ever get a lead, you’ve got your work cut out for you because they’re not going to mess it up.”
Arkansas
On Bobby Petrino: “The guy knows what he’s doing on offense. His scheme is proven. Some of the things he got done at Louisville I thought were because he out-recruited everybody. That’s not the case. The guy is a good football coach.”
Auburn
On Auburn’s coaching situation, with second-year Gene Chizik: “Auburn’s situation was very similar to Tennessee’s before they ran Tommy (Tuberville) out of town. He made a bad hire (in offensive coordinator Tony Franklin). If you ask Phillip (Fulmer), he made a bad hire (offensive coordinator Dave Clawson), I think it will be tough to duplicate what Tommy did because he did a tremendous job there.”
Florida
On the possibility of winning the East without Tebow: “If you had the Tennessee of ’98 or the Georgia of five years ago, then you’d say it’s hard to do it again. But it appears the SEC East is the weaker side at this moment. The biggest thing with Florida is they lost so many coaches. Coaching continuity is key.”
Georgia
On the coaching staff: “The next staff in the SEC that will be fired. They’re a lot like Tennessee was before (Phil) Fulmer got fired….We didn’t ever think we’d be physically outmatched by Georgia.”
Kentucky
On the transition to a new coaching staff: “ Those guys have done a great job. I think (offensive coordinator) Randy Sanders does a really good coaching job; he makes that offense better. Randy is a good football coach, very intelligent person, ant they’ve recruited better people.”
LSU
On Les Mile vs. Nick Saban: “LSU lost its edge in terms of discipline since Nick was there. The NFL scouts are down on them. They’ll (LSU) get guys drafted but not as high as when Nick was there. Nick gets guys drafted who are marginal ability-wise but coached so well, and he creates value for them (the players).”
Ole Miss
On the challenge of the Ole Miss coaching job: “Ole Miss is a tough job. There are two, three, four jobs in the league that are hard to maintain being good every year. You kind of cycle up and have a chance to win nine or 10 games, then often times go through years when you struggle to win six or seven. They could easily cycle down. Dexter McCluster was a big part of what they did.”
Mississippi State
On running the spread under former Florida coordinator Dan Mullen: “They probably have the right system fit offensively. They’re running a system they can recruit to in that state. They’ve always had trouble getting a quarterback that could really throw the ball and be successful…Wayne Madkin is their all-time leading passer. Nothing against Madkin, but that’s a lot of history for it not to be anybody else.”
South Carolina
On Steve Spurrier: “I thought Spurrier would succeed more. He’s had some success. He’s beaten Florida, Tennessee twice and always played Georgia close. What I’ve seen are teams that start out great and don’t finish strong.”
Tennessee
On the state of the program: “For a program that’s going down because they couldn’t recruit, they had six players drafted. The thing about Tennessee is they have very poor leadership in the athletic department. Until they get a president, I think they’ll continue to have poor leadership.”
Vanderbilt
On playing Vanderbilt: “You don’t want them early in the season when they’re fresh. Injuries will change a football team and depth has always been a problem for them. But they’re well coached.”

Tough to argue bama is not the most well coached team, while LSU is far from it

Don't really understand why it's still a comparison this many years after the fact between Miles v. Saban. We all know at this point, but why is that the sole barometer. Can't we identify something about our staff that doesn't involve our previous coach?

Wonder who said saban was a jerk? Think we need to find out and hire em!

it is what it is. that game in oxford was on national television. it changed almost everyone's perception. then, it was solidified by the "clock it!" video clip.anyone on the miles fence fell off after that. unexplainable and inexcusable. we were able to redeem ourselves with the cap one bowl final minute (sarcasm)

If Les wins this year and goes 2-2 against Nick the nation will be depressed.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic but it's the same old sh1t. We have a lot of new staff members and it would be nice to have someone discuss how the addition of a Billy Gonzales could help make our receiving corps better. Or anything along those lines. I don't care if it's a negative comment on our staff, I can come on here and get that. But something other than Nick v. LSU would be nice.

no, it's not sarcastic...really would have liked to see what another coach thought of miles himself...whether he's a gambler, whether the ole miss debacle is still being talked about in other circles, etc.

Based on what I've seen from Nicky against Oklahoma (2004) Arky (2002), Florida (2008) and Texas (2010), I would have to disagree with this.
