Let's talk about the R guard position, Hoko or Evan Washington

IIRC, someone on the rant stated it was Hoko's to lose. Here's my take:
Fanaika- Big arse Pacific Islander!! If I was building an offensive/defensive line, I'd start there. Those guys are built for it. Thick lower bodies, very powerful & aggressive. We can only hope to build a pipeline. I was pumped when he signed.
Evan Washington- high promise coming from Texas, figured he'd find a spot by know, but missed two years to injury & academics IIRC. I always pull for the 4/5 year guys that had some adversity & stuck it out in the hopes of some PT for their beloved Tigers.
Both are Tigers and I'll cheer like a mofo for either player. I'm excited to have a veteran group coming back. It starts up front fellas!! So what is the Rant's view?

Both will get significant snaps

both have come to the summer with a sincere want to compete and are doing all the right things. when we get to the back end we'll be confident in our right guard spot...

"I gotta tell you something. That position is one that we are very confident in. Both guys have a want to play the game of football. These young men know what it's like to compete and work hard. There is a lot of talent there that, quite frankly I am very excited about. The thrill of victory drives these young men and that's exciting."

That should answer your question about any position battle.

Classic Miles right there

Well that is the opinion of the head coach, which I'm not interested in, I'm looking for Rant input.

Deepest and most talented ol group we've ever had. Pocic and Austin also saw significant snaps last year as well. 4 returning starters, 3 of which are on award watch lists, and the fourth could end up the best of them all. 2 absolute mammoths going for the 5th spot, and experienced reserves, it's gonna be fun

Evan played most of the AU game and open up a lot of space for Hill on the right.
Check tape.

Every year coaches say this may be the best line ever. This year may be true.

Yes, I am impressed with the depth of this OL, especially as compared to others in recent years. That depth is great news, especially since Turner left early, but the return of Lael Collins certainly was a most pleasant surprise.
As others have said, it looks like the Tigers will have a solid performer at RG, and the competition between these two will make both better players. I believe both will contribute quite a bit to the team's success this season.
Also with other OL on the team like Austin, Pocic, Boutte & Malone, it should give the Tigers valuable time for the incoming OL recruits to develop.
