Let's get perspective regarding player's effort

Look, I've been negative like many--this outcome sucks, and there is no two ways about it.
-Everyone had high expectations for all the obvious reasons. Going 0-2 and seeing teams like Mississippi State, UCLA, and NC State having better seasons seemed laughable a month ago.
-Our strengths turned into weaknesses in Omaha. Many uncharacteristic plays.
-The seasons of our proudest athletic teams (football & baseball)ended in defeat at the hands of the lowly and often mocked ACC.
It aint good. It hurts, and is disappointing for players, coaches, and fans.
However, IMO there is no reason to question the heart or intentions of the players, as many have. Everyone of those players have done more for LSU on the field than nearly any of us combined on this board.
You want to get cynical? 11.7 scholarships and 33 players on the roster. You do the math. Compare that to 85 for football, 13 for basketball. You want this "love of the game" BS, well you got it for the baseball team. If these guys didn't want to be Tigers, they had viable alternatives, unlike basketball and football, where it going to LSU COULD be a necessary stepping stone.
These guys worked their whole lives to get to this point. You think they really just stopped trying when they finally got to Omaha? Please. They worked their arse off, it didn't work out. Such is life and college athletics.
Always next year.

This
UNC has been one of the best baseball programs in the country the past few years. No shame in losing that game...just massively disappointing.

I agree, it's not shameful and they are a good program. But they have had a rough month, despite winning a lot of games and many on here were pulling for them to beat USC as they were viewed as weaker. The ACC doesn't get a lot of respect, I don't think many disagree, and we lost to them in both sports.

I think they tried very hard.
The results were just terrible.
Doesn't make them bad people.
Fans are upset. Drove a lot of miles, spent a lot of money, and were expecting the usual LSU Baseball CWS magic and got the opposite.

Poor play on the field is no reason to hate on the players personally or attack their heart. But, there is nothing "negaTiger" about being pissed at HOW they played in Omaha. Many just didn't rise to the occasion, or let the pressure of the big stage get to them. That's just analyzing their level of play. Whoever thinks no one should do that because of the "great season" we had is full of it.

Hootie ,its only natural afterwards,to consider the reasons for lack of success in these two games ,out of the 68 played, but the blame doesn't rest on any one or even several players. Most fans have an opinion and I have mine, which isn't important.
I submit that the MAIN focus of true fans should be the great sacrifice, commitment, dedication, hard work and effort the players exhibited to accomplish the many goals that were realized this season. They wanted to win and hated to lose much more than all us fans wanted.
"rise to the occasion"? and "pressure"? Sorry but I respectfully disagree with those assessments.Obviously some didn't perform as well as they or us expected but I don't think it was the pressure of the situation. Our young men played thru similar pressure numerous times this year and succeeded. There were innumerable strange or unusual plays,if different, that could have made all the difference and we could be 2-0.
While we didn't win it all we had a great run and I'm proud of our team. And I make a prediction: we're going back next year and we're gonna win it all. Bregs is gonna be on a mission to lead the Tigers back and his work ethic will be contagious.

I think it's more productive to be upset with the coaches who put together the team, developed the players and devised the strategies. They are the ones who put us in a position to fail so miserably.

It's ridiculous to get mad at the players in any of the sports. They sacrifice a lot by essentially working a full time job on top of college for a very small chance to make it to the pros.
We get to enjoy 12+ games a year in football and 80 something in baseball. Wins and championships are just laignappe

but I don't think it was the pressure of the situation
Just like me, you have no idea of what was the real problem. My list was just an opinion and food for thought. But there are very few situations we faced during the year (elimination, end of season situation, large live and national TV crowd) that would replicate the CWS. Sorry, but the SEC tournament just doesn't come close; that was a "got nothing to lose" setting. The finality of losing and ending your season weighs much more on a player's composure, IMHO.
NONE of this is anyone's fault. Give credit to UCLA and UNC for being able to throttle the undeniable pressure faced by every player that takes the field in the CWS. I respect the talent of their teams, and absolutely feel that we either equaled, and in most cases exceeded, the talent of our opponents. But HAVING talent and being able to tap into it at the right time are the differences in winning and losing
