Great joke. How come people didn't laugh and dismiss Sprewell's comment?

Do you really not know the difference between a coach in his first year trying to turn around a program that is down and one who is in HIS SEVENTH DAMN YEAR
Do you really not know the difference between UAB/ULM (both at home)and #2 team in the country? Am I to believe that Alabama and ULM were equals that year? Look up ULM's 2007 season. Not exactly a murderer's row of teams they beat.

not just the West, the entire conference.

The argument is whether or not LSU had the best program in the SEC West last season. It's obvious we didn't based on the result of the NCG. Objective, unbiased observers of CFB who aren't fans of or invested in either program - Bama or LSU - acknowledge this conclusion.
Actually, there was a lot of talk after the regular season of LSU being one of the GOAT teams...on ESPN and other sports news outlets. So it wasn't just local fans saying LSU was the best team in the SEC. It wasn't just local fans saying LSU was the best team in the nation. It wasn't even just local fans saying LSU was one of the best teams of all time. It was national media and college football analysts that were touting LSU as the best tram ever.
That is much better praise than much of what LSU's own fans were heaping upon the team.
So yes, LSU was the best team in the SEC last year. The bational champ game was the exception, not the rule. Learn it, love it, accept it. Les Miles coached the Best team in LSU's long history. If nothing else, that is worthy of a raise.

Now what is your "evidence" that LSU had the best program in the West last season?
saban sitting the gameday set while we were actually playing for the championship (he lost to us at home), I still have the championship game on my DVR so I'm certain that it happened........that's about it.
they killed us in total yards though

Because it was made in all seriousness. I think his financial state later in life proves he wasn't joking

...and?
Does that mean LSU did not win the conference, thus making them the BEST team in the conference?

LSU fans should never ever complain about the delusions of grandeur amongst our SEC brethren. This is somewhere between laughable and pitiful.
LSU and Alabama met in two games last season. The combined score of those games was Bama 27 LSU 9. The combined yardage was Alabama 679 LSU 331. The combined first downs were Alabama 38 LSU 20.
From that data, this brilliant poster draws the conclusion that LSU was the best team in the SEC last year. Not only that, but the best LSU team EVER. Sweet love of the lord, we have some poor fools in our fanbase.
I didn't realize until this moment how deeply some of you are steeped in wishful thinking and blind prejudice. Staggering.

Now ask how many teams won a crystal since the BCS started? Four teams and LSU is one of them and played in another BCS game. I'd say those are pretty good numbers.

If Alabama loses the NC this year, will they be the best team in the country? They won't get a trophy for it, but they didn't get one for the SECC last year either, but somehow were still the best.

Not to mention Alabama had to get the mulligan of all mulligans to become the best team in the SEC

And you act as if I was the one on ESPN and the radio talking about LSU being the GOAT. It wasn't me. And you act as if it ws crazy to talk about the topic.
Which LSU team was better than last year's team? Which LSU team dominated it's regular season opponents like last year's team?

I honestly have no idea how to respond (argue/laugh/shake head/shrug/sigh/roll eyes?) to anyone who truly thinks that LSU was the best team in the SEC in 2011.
I imagine it' be like having an argument with one of those folks who still thinks the world is flat.
