For everything I've read (mostly on here) the answer is no. Since he asked for and LSU gave him an unconditional release he can play immediately.

Sick of hearing this. Did Miles think there was a possibility the guy could greyshirt, sure. Was there a possibility some other player would greyshirt if Porter showed his worth over the summer? I believe so. Why would they tell him he is going to greyshirt early in the year when there is a possibility for him to earn a spot through summer workouts?
