Without LSU, Miles would have been forgotten long ago. Except for his skirt chasing at Kansas.
Miles did do some good things at LSU, no doubt. Hiring Chavis when he did was a great move. He did, indeed, recruit well and does get credit for building the 2011. 2015 & 2016 rosters.
Les is such a point of frustration because he was good enough at some things to keep LSU relevant, but almost never good enough to be at the top. He found so many ways to screw things up and lose games LSU had no business losing. It's remarkable how much he handcuffed the LSU offense for a decade given the sheer volume of in state offensive talent. He was good enough to give you hope that we had a chance but never good enough to finish the job.

In many ways, Les was Mark Richt (except Richt was actually a good human being).
They both were at the big state school, with no real in-state competition, in a hotbed of talent. So they both recruited very well.
They both won a lot of games, but never seemed to be able to elevate the program to where it could've gone.
Now with Kirby Smart, we see what UGA could've been all along with the right guy at the helm.
