the guy was 5th or 6th on the list, i'm pretty sure a lot of people didn't want him here. that being said after 07 i think most of the fanbase was behind him. he had the national title, 3 great seasons, and the arrival of saban that galvanized the fanbase to get behind him. this of course is all opinion and we can go on day and night about whether or not majority of LSU fans truly backed him.

i think what has hurt him recently is how teams like bama, florida, and even ark and ole miss have upped the ante lately, while we have simply been treading water.
