JJ used the term I way too much in the interview. It almost seemed if he was the starter he alone would make things happen. Is he a true team player or just looking out for himself?

It's all in the application, not the design.

So you know all we will need to beat bama is Lee? Even after seeing throughout the season that our WR's drop passes left and right, even after seeing some horrible balls thrown. When a defense like Bama shuts Lee down, just like MSU did in their territory, I would gladly wish for a running qb who I know has potential to make great throws.

Nobody knows what we will need.

But everyone knows that what we have now has been good enough to beat 3 ranked teams, get to 5-0, and #1 in a poll.

Therefore, I am perfectly comfortable continuing down that road.

I just think that if they publicly put it to bed, the team can focus on winning more. Instead of who is behind who for starter. It would show that both of these guys care about whats best for the team.

The comment Tyrann made on espn seems like there is discontent among some on the team.
You should stand behind the starter or don't comment on who's "team" you think this is.
The correct answer should be "What ever coach Miles thinks is best for our team, I'm on board", "We are competing for a National championship."

Really I think Lee/Jefferson should say that as well.

So, when the defense puts 8 in the box our response would be to put in the worst passing qb we have
Hate all you want, but our recievers were fairly well covered vs UK and we'll likely see better DBs in the future.
If you can't get open we don't have any QBs accurate enough to make off shoulder throws and this has to be practiced by WRs.

There are ways to to loosen up a defense other than throwing.

the comment that TM7 made is the only thing that is REALLY important. it doesn't matter what jj thinks but it matters GREATLY what the team thinks. lm has to make sure he doesn't annoy or iritate the team by taking too much of an AUTHORITATIVE stance. it will take everything the team has to win NC, lm job to do whatever it takes to get it out of the team even if it means GIVING IN a little to the team (not meant to mean starting jj).

In 5 games, Lee has thrown 8 TDs, 1 int and has been sacked 3 times, which leads the SEC in sack avoidance. If you think Jefferson was going to put up anything close to those numbers (especially the 1 int) you are mistaken. Let's not break what is working right now.

How did Lee do vs MSU and UK? I would just like to point out that it is a different ball game against SEC defenses.

certainly a few of those passes should have been caught, but Lee got away with a few as well,
Some shouldn't have been thrown considering the coverage, and some were pretty tough catches of questionable throws.
JL didn't have the best of days vs UK.

I enjoy having a top 20 offense

I'm content with our results and QB to this point, but we don't have a top 20 offense.

We have a top 90 offense with a top 18 scoring offense thanks in good part to a top 4 T/O margin, a top 3 rushing D, and a top 9 total D.

It's amusing that last season all many wanted to talk bout was our passing offense and total offense. The fact that our scoring offense last season was much better than our total offense ranking was hardly ever mentioned, but this season passing/total offense is suddenly not important in the minds of some and scoring offense is ALL important.

Go figure........

We do, JJ. He has made great throws before, which is the potential, and he can run.

You're right. 11-2 is a terrible record, we should only use one of our talented QBs.

And here I thought you got the most credit for scoring more than your opponent. And have a great T/O margins only gets that way because you don't give the ball up, ON OFFENSE.

Call me crazy

went 21-27 for 213 yards...red zone playcalling was the main reason for the FG's instead of TD's. They fixed that for the WVU game.

I'll give them a bit of a pass on Kentucky, wedge game between WVU and Florida, plus 11:20 starts have never been great for LSU offenses.

Very good point.
LSU hasn't faced a really good D for any 2011 stat bragging right, either.

it means that the offense is benefiting from field position and leads being made more comfortable by special teams and defensive scores. It's not necessarily having to do too much to win games to this point. Which is fine, that's the way to win championships...the question is, how does this offense respond if it needs a late score to tie against a stout defense. I'm very happy with the offense right now, but Lee and JJ aren't great playmakers with their arms.

+1 billion. It is not an explosive offense, the turnovers forced and field position gained, defensive scores, the D limiting the other teams' scoring, the kick return score, the net punting yardage, etc. Could the offense be put in a much better situation? Look at the receiving yardage per player, they haven't even hit stride yet. If this team doesn't keep games tight or play with a lead then there is no proof STD that it can overcome a significant deficit. Lee is not going to hit a switch and all of a sudden put up 275 yards passing on UF, Bama, etc and the receivers need to step up their attempts on gaining separation from defenders and convert catchable passes into receptions -- Lee, JJ, whoever is the QB.

well we couldn't do it last year our first 8 games, and were considerably worse scoring points than this year (14 ppg worse)...but to reply to your statement...you are right...perhaps we can get back to scoring in the 40's now.

correct me if i am wrong...but didn't pp7 have a great start to last year with a couple td returns and int returns??? lol...just curious.
\
the offense is actually starting in worst field position that last year...so wrong again.

finally, I'm pretty sure lee was in more than one situation last year where he had to score late to tie/beat a stout defense.......
