I'm hearing rumblings that this is more serious than is being reported...It's strange that there are so many different "rumors" and varying sources.
At any rate, I'm praying for him and his family. His draft stock is the least of my worries right now; I just want the guy to be okay.

The following is a statement from Athletes First on the status of former LSU wide reciever Demetrius Byrd. Athletes First represents Demetrius.
April 20, 2009: Athletes First has issued the following statement in response to the news that our client and 2009 NFL draft prospect Demetrius Byrd was involved in a car accident in Miami, Florida yesterday.
“We are saddened by the news that our good friend and client Demetrius Byrd was involved in a car accident yesterday morning. He is currently being treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, and based on early reports, we are optimistic that he will make a full recovery.”
David Dunn, Athletes First CEO and Demetrius’ NFL representative, added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Demetrius, and with his mother Sharon and the entire Byrd family.”

“This tragic accident puts in perspective just how fragile life can be. Demetrius is an outstanding young man with a bright future ahead of him.
