Mingo...could he be better used as a Sam LB?

no..doesnt have the "hips" to cover

I think Minter is going to be great.

Minter has the same issue as Loston..mental progression or lack there of..

wouldnt be surprised to see Barrow starting in place of FRancois this year.
Barrow plays WILL Francios is a SAM

Maclin has the same problems as Mingo...covering in space...

They call him Thump and he had 14 tackles in last years spring game. I think he's more physically gifted than KS11 but will make mistakes and grow into a heady player over time.

Whoever said Ryan Baker is a beast must have missed the cotton bowl other than the sack he was no where in site and was blocked on like every play

minter or barrow, neither has impressed me....

now I don't know about Minter, but I love me some LaMean! we just need to channel his aggression.

I'm hoping Minter's great, I always pull for the Atlanta kids. just thought we'd have seen some of that show up this yr. figured they might shift Shep outside every so often and let Minter get some reps, somewhat how Shep and Cutrera did in 09.

wondering if Maclin goes back to LB. Chavis has been known to tinker (see Leonard Little at MLB as a sr).

They are going to move a running back per my discussion with an offensive coach, he didn't mention a name, but did mention there was a problem at linebacker

Not for long when we get CJ JOHNSON

My guess would be Blue. He is 6' 2" and has room to gain at least 20 pounds

nope, we are talking LB's. Our outside LB's are interchangeable most of the time. Barrow especially, he saw time this year at both spots.

which is why francois came off the field most passing downs in favor of a true DB?

heard this from another LBer..

was he supposed to beat out Shepard?

No...its because Francios couldnt cover a tree!..thats why..

Nope..but it is why there is a major concern about the MIKE backer next year

i was thinking the same thing...chavis has a history of having a large Mike LB...Barrow or Minter (although Minter is the only mike of the two) dont fit that bill, Maclin played both DE and MLB in High school and i remember in an article that he chose LSU over Tenn soley because he wanted to play LB for Chavis....I just dont see him getting in the mix at DE were too deep there...plus 6'3-6'4 235lbs....thats a good size mlb...I think its him or welter...in the end...

hell, maybe even bulk up loston to play sam, although i like him better at SS....

Im still not sold on Barrow or Minter...i hope they do great but I think Welter, Maclin and this new kid CJ Johnson...if he signs will be the go to guys the next coming years...

Muncie will be in the mix at the WILL and maybe even MIKE..

WILL should be as follows..

Baker
Barrow/Muncie(Muncie could move to MIKE if he catches on quick enough..at the end of the season he was 6'3"235ish...)

Mike = the area of concern

Minter/Baker ( Minter as all the ability in the world...just needs to understand the defense.)
Muncie/Welter

SAM = the area of question not so much concern
could be any of the following
Francois/Jones/Johns
Francois we saw that this year
Jones is 195ish
Johns needs to stay healthy..

he played some downs on the strong side.

Who do you think plays Will if Francois cant cut it?

do you really think they will put in Taj Jones or Josh Johns before Barrow?

you are the one that said Sam had a ton of coverage. That just proves they are interchangeable if they are going to put a DB in on passing downs and play with 2 LBs

Minter will be fine. book it

It better get to making, he's a senior in '11.

Baker has the best stats of any returning LB in the SEC. He already is good.
