Agree. Les seems articulate and witty when not put in bad situations by the likes of Tracy Wolfson.

He also lobbies the parents harder than the kids because he knows who the decision makers really are.

It was interesting seeing the coaches from different schools.

CLM impressed me because he seemed natural, especially when talking about what good men he has playing for him, and how they'll be good players but also students and husbands and business leaders down the road. I think that sentiment is real, and I can understand why he recruits so well. And he is so different when he's relaxed vs. talking during a press conference.

Bama's coaches looked like sleezebags, and honestly, if that were my son and all they wanted to talk about was how many millions he'd be making in the NFL, I'd be almost insulted. As if that's the only f'ing thing that matters to me. Buncha doucebags. Of course, they may have had reams of film showing Bama in a better light and just chose to edit that way. But somehow I doubt that's the case.

Muschamp seemed likable. It was nice to see Mama give him a call once JR made his decision.

Petrino, as someone said, has the charisma of a wet dish rag.

I was also impressed with Jimbo, as far as he seemed personable in a good way rather than a sleazy corner lot used car salesman way (see Bama, Staff for definition).

Mack Brown seemed personable, but the 'this is what I do for recruits' with the whole showing the state of Texas his highlight film struck me as a bit over the top. I'm sure a lot of recruits like that kind of attention, but that strikes me as too much arse-kissing, not enough 'real', if that makes sense.

I mean, compare Mack Brown's spiel about 'this is what we'll do to show you off to Texas" with the chat about the framed articles on CLM's wall...and the reporter said 'that could be JR, he could be one of those heroes'...and CLM was all, 'yeah, and you just know how the people of this state respond to these guys'... I don't know, that was genuine, while Mack Brown's thing seemed fake. Maybe it's because I KNOW how the LSU fans respond to the guys play on Saturday nights in purple and gold. But that really struck a chord with me...it wasn't a prepared presentation, it was just an honest assessment of how LSU fans respond to the guys who wear purple and gold on Saturday nights.

I'm glad JR is a Tiger. I really like him and his Mama, and I hope they enjoy the next few years as Tigers.

I love the part when Mama said "I'm sold, I'm sold". Les sure knows how to close the deal.

no problem. i saw several of the links posted throughout the thread...

i missed the first few minutes the other night, but my take afterwards was (as others have posted) his Mom played the biggest role in his final decision. you could tell he had a firm relationship w/boom muschamp and that it weighed on him. his Mom didn't take the trip to Florida w/him, right? she took the trip to BR...that was telling.

as far as some of the coaches, the weirdest had to have been the 'Bama strength coach...the whole 'Bama trip segment was just off. i can't put my finger on it. the coach praising himself for coaching Julius Peppers didn't help, i suppose.

Jimbo and Boom seem like deadly recruiters. Miles came across well i thought, and obviously was able to close the deal.

Wow, thanks for posting. I'm now a bigger fan of Rasco and his mother for having viewed that.

Somebody needs to Fark the first piece of Muschamp talking about seeing JR for the first time while it appears like he's whacking off under the table.

First time I've ever seen Miles in action and I totally understand why he's so deadly on the recruiting trail now

The coach from bama was such a douche. I thought mac brown would be better than that and jimbo fisher looks like midget in the face. by far Miles the best wilth Muschamp a close second.

Bama coach with the Peppers line was awkward and weird. Not sure if it was stranger than the Evangel holy roller stuff though, IMO.

Did anyone notice the Bama coaches didn't mention anything about a degree or academics? All they preached was NFl/money. Les promises a degree if they stay/work hard.

I've been vocal on here about Les and his antics. After watching that though, I'd choose him every time over any of those other coaches...well maybe Muschamp. Still, seemed like Les's values of family and education far outweighed the others. I've made my last negative post about the man.

I think the Bama strength and conditioning coach is a kid I taught at John Curtis back in the 90s. I'm almost certain Scott worked under Moffit at LSU (who was at Curtis in early 90s). Scott was a nut in school, but very likable as a person. He did look a little scary but I'm willing to bet the players like him when he's not screaming at them. LOL

Very good videos - really enjoyed them. Thanks for posting. I kept missing them.

I am feeling the same way. I still remember my feelings of the Ole Miss and TN games, and how much bitterness comes up in me when I watch the same short-side options and all-american quality players not being used, etc etc.

But in spite of all that, these videos confirm for me that we as fans are LUCKY to have Les Miles represent the school and the state. I regret all the derision and cursing I have heaped on him over the years, and I won't do it again. He will always have the benefit of the doubt from me.

I've thought a good bit about Miles and his bumbling routine he often goes through in front of people he feels are antagonistic towards him (press). I believe Les uses this to his advantage.

We've caught him several times where he is highly passionate and articulate...but it's never with the press. Almost like he purposely confuses them with crazy coach speak and allows them to view him as slightly incompetent.

I could be way off base, but I truly believe he does much of it on purpose. He allows people to underestimate him as a strategy.

(I'm not talking about on the field as much as I am his persona off the field.)

Yeah you can see the intelligence in these. People aren't going to just turn their kid over to an idiot so he doesn't play one. I've always thought that Les Speak was simply his way of controlling the message in front of reporters. It's like he's saying it all in his head before he says it out loud. He filters everything through a few well defined filters before he speaks and it comes off as awkward. But when he's not "official" Les, he's relaxed and you get an actual look at who he is. And who he is is a hell of a good, smart man.

We're lucky to have him.
