Is it possible that Krags comes in and by the start of the 2011 season Jefferson is the 3rd QB on the depth chart?

We've all seen Jefferson in a pro-style, drop-back passing style offense and that is what Krags is bringing.

What ever happens, it's going to be interesting to see where the QB play goes next season.

You'll probably be looking at a 1A & 1B qb system. jj will be the "package" qb & Mett will be the drop-back passing qb for the style of offense that Krag is bringing in. Don't look for a "successful" senior qb (& I use that term VERY lightly only because of the W-L record he has been a part of over the last 3 years) to get canned just because a new coach comes to town. I think as long as jj is at LSU, he will get his time in, maybe a decrease & more of a split time but he'll see the field on Saturdays.

I agree, it is gonna be fun to see this one unfold. However, with all the QBs starting from scratch in this offensive sheme, Mett should pick it up the fastest and pull away from the pack early.

Highly unlikely. His system doesnt want a QB with no mobility. JJ is your probable starter.

JJ will start the beginning of the season, with Mett coming in with certain packages.

If Mett really is this good, and JJ has another "JJ" season, the Mett should take over the number one spot.

Only problem is, LSU might have to lose games first for the change to happen. Unless the defense saves them again this year.

The question is should Lee transfer? Although he stuck it out this long, he will absolutely waste his entire Senior season on the bench. Of course, Miles could just sit Mett and play both JJ and Lee.

No. JLee will not beat out JJ.

As I stated prior to spring practice last year, I just want all QBs to be given an equal opportunity with the one who performs best in practices and scrimmages being the starter. If that's JJ, fine. If it's JL or Mett, fine as well.

What I don't want to see is a team sticking with a QB that is not performing in games next fall. Way too much is at stake for this year's team to risk a loss because of 'loyalty' to a player. If he ain't gittin' it done, ride the pine.

JL hasn't shown the consistancy to beat out JJ. If Met is as good as he should be, the first time JJ craps the bed, he'll be scowling on the sidelines at the gatorade cooler while Met gets his shot.

This. I got a feeling JJ will be the starter at the start of the season with the way Miles is. I definitely want to see open competition though this spring and summer. Looking forward to the spring game.

I think JJ and Mett will split snaps to start the season, and whoever performs better will start seeing a majority as the season goes along.

How long will Kragthorpe be signed for? I doubt Miles would bring in Kragthorpe and not have him focused on getting the most out of Mett.

what are you guys smoking?

Mett hasn't even suited up, yet. Prepare for a long season if you seriously think Mett is going to play over JJ (or even Lee).

Why the hell would Miles get a JUCO QB in here with 2 seniors coming back? Miles knows that the offense can be better. A new OC will give him a fresh look at all of the options before deciding who to put in there.

Do you really think Mett will not play at all this season? I think it's a given that he will be ahead of Lee immediately. Of course this is all speculation, but to think that Mett would not be given a shot (who he has stated publicly that he wants to play ASAP) is crazy.

Mett would not have come to LSU if he didn't think he would get a shot to play next year. We've seen jj all suited up & there is NOTHING in that suited up qb that makes me think another good qb couldn't come in & out perform jj.

It is still a Les Miles team. Expect to see a similar offense, and Jefferson starting.

And a pissed of Kragthorpe leaving in 3 years for Les micromanaging his job.

Why would you think he'd be ahead of Lee immediately and not JJ or both? Lee's a better passer than JJ right now. JJ is more mobile.

A previous poster stated that JL hasn't shown the consistency to overtake JJ. Where's JJ's consistency? Good lord, we had to wait until the Bama game for him to throw his 3rd TD pass of the season.

I don't know who's decision it was to stick with JJ for all those games in 2010, but just about anybody would have been better. This year, LSU needs to have a policy in place where if you produce, you play, and if you don't, here's a headset and clipboard.

If Lee still had a shot at starting, Miles would have started him at some point this season. After the Auburn game (though I don't know how bad he was hurt afterwards), Lee hardly saw the field. In the bowl game, Lee did not touch the field until the very last drive, just to kneel on the ball.

It seems like Miles is still all in with JJ, which is why I don't think there will be room for a 3rd qb behind JJ and Mett (who Miles has spend the majority of his effort this season on).

Agreed, and I guess it is possible that with Kragthorpe both can get better than they are now. We are all just speculating and nobody knows for sure. The way I see it right now though is JJ gets about 80% of the snaps and Mett is worked in a little.

This is why I love the Rant. If nothing else, it is good for a nice chuckle.
