I agree. I think it's more a 'gut feeling' type game for which to try to decide who will win, more than anything else, though.

I'd be more impressed with Mel if he had said he was picking Bama on that, than trying to say it's based on some goofy statistical quirk that he pulled out of his arse to make it seem "logical."

Then, right after he said that, AJ led his team to a whopping 6 points with an INT in the first half against Tennessee at home

Haven't seen McShae even mention it since...

exactly, i havent seen a single pundit mention this.

i do remember hearing them giving lsu shite for only being up 17-7 at half against them though

Bama has the edge on the defensive numbers, but I think that has to do with playing a slightly weaker schedule. Bottom line is that these teams are almost identical across the board. The difference in the game is how LSU will handle playing in BDS. If they handle it well, then they have a good chance of winning a close game. If they don't handle it well and end up shooting themselves in the foot by giving up turnovers, then Bama will win in a close game. This game will not be a blow out, not matter who wins.

good stuff, but Kiper and all the others get paid to voice their opinions that we keep watching...not a bad gig. Wish I could do the same..of course I'd go with the tigers and piss all the Bama fans off

Why wouldn't he? They are a good team and they are playing at home.

Finebaum actually mad a good point on his show a couple of days ago that Miles and Saban both seem to be running Big 10 style programs while everyone else is trying to spread te field.

I don't remember what expert exactly said it, but someone said that LSU/Bama football is Big 10 style power football with the speed of the SEC thrown in. I thought that was a pretty good description.

He also leaned to Oregon and said it was a must win for them if they had any title hopes. Who cares.

ok get ready to start throwing things...

From a predicting who wins the game standpoint... I would think Bama would get the nod almost everytime due to "homefield advantage".

This will only make the LSU victory that much more sweeeeet....

I love it. LOVE that everyone that the players watch everyday is picking Bama.

All any of these picks for Bama is a reason for LSU to play with an even bigger chip on their shoulder. The #1 ranking obviously means nothing to anyone.

Solid post.

Mentally, the VERY WORST thing - and really the only bad thing - is for our players to start believing all the press clippings/praises. And I'm as guilty as anyone of doling them out, calling this team, many times, the best LSU I've ever seen at LSU.

The fact that pretty much EVERYONE is saying Bama will win is, imho, the reason they won't. When this particular group of Tigers plays with their heads on straight, I do not see any team beating them.

Part of the reason LSU doesn't have more yards is because of great special teams play.

How many times this season has the offense had a short field to work with

I wish someone would make a media against LSU compilation. Make it 2-3 minutes long.

Bama is more balanced but ydg has nothing to do with this.
Balance is run/ pass ratio of plays called.
Using ydg, I could throw 7/10 for 228 and rush 40/229, but hardly be called a balanced attack.

Kiper says Bama has 17 future NFL guys and LSU has 10.

advantage Bama, in Kiper's mind at least.

on the other hand, TM7 (and probably Tebow) is a great college player that may not have a big NFL career.

the game is not in the NFL. its now. Maybe the small non-NFL LSU guys can beat the bigger Bama guys. That's what its going to come down to.

Lots of coaches say, Good big beats good small.

I just watched the clip, and McShay picked LSU. He said that last week he would have kneejerked a Bama pick, but after looking at the tape, he believes we are better on the edges and that our secondary is better. The little ticker on the bottom showed his pick as LSU and Kiper's as Bama. I don't have a problem with anyone picking either team, but there is one thing I slightly disagree with Kiper. He looked at "draft eligible" players and said that Bama has 17 that would get drafted and LSU only 10. But that discounts the fact that we have guys like Montgomery, Mathieu, Simon, Ware and Ford who are NOT draft eligible but who would be drafted if they were. So, I think he discounts our talent when he only looks at those that are draft eligible since we're so young.
